7.07 I and Love and You Quotes

7.07 I and Love and You Quotes

Haley: Skills is gonna take Jamie for the day…just to keep him away from the TV.
Nathan: You know the first memory I have is sitting in my father’s lap holding a basketball. I spent my entire life trying to get me to the NBA, now he’s gonna take it away.

Renee: You didn’t tell me that the show was live.
Dan: It’s better this way; better audience, bigger ratings. After today everyone will know your story.
Renee: I’m nervous.
Dan: Don’t be, just speak from the heart and don’t forget to smile.
Renee: Mr. Scott? What happened between you and Nathan?
Dan: I murdered his uncle among other things. I’ll see you out there.

Clay: Look I have to watch Nathan’s and my careers possibly end on this nightmare TV show. You can go if you want.
Sara: Don’t be silly babe. I’m not going anywhere.

Haley: Nathan? Hey it’s gonna start soon.
Nathan: It’s been a good life huh?
Haley: Yeah. It’s been a wonderful life. You know, when this show is over it’s still gonna be a wonderful life because I love you and your son loves you and nothing that happens in the next hour is gonna change that.
Nathan: God, I needed to hear you say that.
Haley: Good. I really needed to say it.

Dan: They say that truth is the best indication against slander. So what’s the truth? Is she lying? Or am I about to become a grandfather again?

Dan: Believe nothing. Just because a wise man said it, or you read it in a book…words of divine order, or because your mother told you…it doesn’t make it true. Believe only what you yourself can test and judge to be true.

Clay: (to Nathan) Dude, having you around is so much better than having a puppy!

Dan: Falling in love is the easiest thing you’re ever gonna do. It’s the most exciting thing, the most powerful thing. That’s why falling out of love hurts like hell, but falling in love…there’s nothing better. It’s the best it ever gets.

Dan: A lifetime of love. Now there’s a miracle. Relationships aren’t always easy. I should know. I’m on my second marriage. How many of you are divorced? Divorce doesn’t just happen. And relationships don’t just end in an instant.

Dan: We all want to be loved…to be happy. So why aren’t we? Because we’ve become experts at sabotaging our own happiness. Feeling like victims, when in fact it’s the choices we make, the bad habits, the vices, the inability to show love and compassion. These are the things that tear us down. We’re not victims. We’re assassins when it comes to love and happiness.

Dan: Ah, we applaud the sentiment, but we don’t change. Why? Because we want what we want. So we do it, we say it, we try it and we victimize ourselves.

Renee: What is this about?
Rachel: What is what about?
Renee: I didn’t agree to this. (A lie detector test).
Rachel: It’s great television.
Renee: But…
Rachel: Here’s the thing: if you’re lying science will prove it eventually and if not…you have nothing to worry about. Don’t forget to smile.

Nathan: Do you believe this? Do you realize how ridiculous this is? The guy shot his brother at point blank range and now he has a hit TV show. He’s rolling out some rigged up lie detector machine and I have to sit 3000 miles away and just take it.
Haley: Screw him. I mean it. Let’s not even watch the rest of the show. It’s a nice day. It’s a nice life.
Nathan: How can you be so strong?

Dan: It’s a question of character. It’s really about who has better character. Is it Renee or Nathan?

Sara: Can I give you my two cents?
Clay: Sure.
Sara: This is all about that wide receiver, right?
Clay: Yeah.
Sara: I think you can do better.
Clay: Babe, this guy’s a big deal. He could change everything for me.
Sara: You said it yourself. He’s a bad guy.
Clay: And if I only represent good guys I may have no clients at all.
Sara: I don’t believe that. And I don’t think you do either.
Clay: The guy is great Sara.
Sara: He’s not great. He’s just a great player. And the man I love knows the difference. That’s what’s going to make you a great agent. You’ll find players that you can believe in and clients that become friends. You’ll find someone that has character, and integrity, and heart. And that will change everything for you. And that’s the man I fell in love with.

Dan: Sometimes we fall short of the people we were meant to be. Sometimes people do things they’re ashamed of. And usually after the guilt sets in, we make things worse. My son Nathan Scott is a good man, but sometimes people do funny things in the face of pressure and desperation, and the truth, well, the truth is an absolute. And the truth can set you free. My name is Dan Scott (True). I love my wife Rachel (True). My son Nathan loves me (True). I’m president of the United States (True). I’m Santa Claus (True). I didn’t kill my brother (True). Life is funny isn’t it? Sometimes bad things happen to good people and it isn’t fair.

Haley: I’m so sorry you had to go through this.
Nathan: I shouldn’t have been drunk at that party Haley.
Haley: You’re still young. We both are. I think we just forget that sometimes.

Clay: Sometimes I can’t see you anymore. I forget things about you, and I’m afraid I’m losing us…like the way you smelled, the sound of your voice, and the way you felt in my arms, and um…
Sara: If you let someone in…you’ll erase me.
Clay: I can’t.
Sara: Open the door, Clay…Clay, it’s okay. On the count of 2.

Rachel: So how’d you know she was lying?
Dan: He’s still my son. I raised him. I know what kind of man he is. Besides, it takes a con to know a con.

Clay: It’s not fair. We were supposed to have more time.
Sara: You still do. I don’t want you to be alone honey. You like her. Quinn. Why’d you send her away?
Clay: I don’t want to lose us.
Sara: You can’t erase who we were or what we had. No one can. We burned so bright together. You won’t lose that.
Clay: I loved you so much Sara.
Sara: You were perfect with me. And you always will be. But now it’s time to let go. It’s okay honey. I love you.

Fancast Spoiler

Again this is from Matt Mitovich who made the switch to Fancast…

Now that Renee’s lies have been exposed on ‘One Tree Hill,’ will Naley fans get some overdue on-screen lovin’? – Kelli

When I spoke to James Lafferty I relayed the fans’ clamoring for some Nathan-Haley heat. He said that if Nathan was ultimately proven innocent, “I’m sure there’s plenty of that to look forward to. [Series creator] Mark [Schwahn] is pretty good about giving the fans what they want.” That said, he had to note, “This is The CW, not ‘True Blood,’ so they shouldn’t be expecting too much!”

TVGuide: Tree Hill Star: New Episode Tells Stories the Audience Has Been Waiting to Hear

Monday’s episode of One Tree Hill (8/7c, CW) might just be the turning point viewers have been waiting to see all season. Executive producer Mark Schwahn calls “I and Love and You” a very emotional hour that delves further into Clay’s history and the Nathan love-child story line when Renee is featured on Dan Scott’s talk show. The episode is directed by star James Lafferty, who made his Tree Hill directorial debut last season. Lafferty told TVGuide.com that this was an “ambitious” episode that “tells a lot of stories that the audience has been waiting to hear.”

More “Naley” Babies on Tree Hill? Star Says It’s Not “Out of the Question”

Clay (Robert Buckley) also has some intense, somewhat daunting scenes with guest star Amanda Schull, who plays a woman named Sara from his past. (Anyone else think Sara is dead and appearing as a figment of Clay’s imagination?) In the scene, the two had to jump off a bridge, which lead to more press than Buckley bargained for.

TDW Exclusive: Matt Barr on Going From Psycho Derek to Keith Van Der Woodsen

Appearing on just one teen drama? Psht. Two? Forget that. If you’re Matt Barr, you have a trifecta going and will settle for nothing less.

Barr is perhaps best-known for playing Ian “Psycho Derek” Banks on One Tree Hill, but has two other teen drama roles under his belt: a young Keith van der Woodsen in Gossip Girl’s 80s flashback episode and Wes, a college student on The O.C.

What could make it even better? This: Barr couldn’t have been nicer–or funnier–in our interview. See for yourself below.

TeenDramaWhore: When you were cast on One Tree Hill, were you aware of all the twists in store for your character? Specifically, did you know you weren’t really Peyton’s brother and did you know you were going to go down the ’stalker’ route?

Matt Barr: I really did go into it pretty blind. The only information the producers shared with me in the beginning was that Derek had a dark side. What that meant, I really had no idea. Little did I know I was going to have time of my life! I had no clue it would escalate the way it did, and to the degree it did. I remember, towards the end of that wild character arc, I told creator Mark Schwahn, “Man, you’re really not afraid to go for it!” Loved every minute of it.

TDW: How did you channel all the craziness you had to display?

Barr: Ha Ha. Good question. You know, truth is we all have this instinctual dark side to us. I’m not saying it’s evil; it’s just this raw survival technique that, when placed in extreme circumstances, or faced with desperate measures, we are all capable of some pretty crazy things. Ha ha. I remember when I was like 6 years old, it was my birthday, and as my mom brought my birthday cake to the table, my little brother jumped up and blew out all my candles. I was so mad; I screamed and said something like, “I’m going to kill you, Luke!” Needless to say, I didn’t kill my brother that day. He’s now 22, and bigger and stronger than me. But you could say as I tapped into that angry craziness of Derek, it all started with my little bro. I guess you just have to reach down inside yourself and pull it out. Thanks, bro.

Exclusive Interview with Amanda Schull on OTH Podcast Oct. 27

----

An exclusive interview with Amanda Schull, who plays Sarah the mysterious woman from Clay’s (played by Robert Buckley) past, begins airing on the One Tree Hill Podcast October 27. It is the only place One Tree Hill fans will hear exclusive commentary and insight into the Oct. 26 One Tree Hill episode, I and Love and You.

Schull’s appearance on the seventh episode of season seven will be her second appearance on One Tree Hill. She was first seen on the Oct. 19 episode. Serious regular James Lafftery, who plays Nathan Scott, directs the Oct. 26 episode.

One Tree Hill’s Mark Schwahn, also wrote I and Love and You; Schull talks a bit about being able to be in an episode penned by the creator of the show.

“I had no idea what a nice little treat I walked into, I am a very lucky girl,” Schull admitted. “He had such a vested interest in the character and the episode, and he is so accessible for everyone who works on the show. He is there for you 100 percent, he will step out of a meeting to take a call. It was a beautiful experience to have Mark as such a resource.”

The One Tree Hill Podcast will also offer a bonus interview in the episode. As Scott Avett from The Avett Brothers joins the podcast for an “Artist Alley” segment. Their song “I and Love and You” is of course the title of the episode on Oct. 26.

'One Tree Hill's' James Lafferty is double the talent

Align CenterHis role of Nathan Scott on the CW hit drama 'One Tree Hill' has allowed actor James Lafferty to challenge himself in a variety of ways. He has gone from playing a troubled high-school basketball player to a husband, father, and professional athlete. Yet as Lafferty recently discussed with me, his latest challenge of sitting behind the director's chair was a role he never expected to have, but one is thrilled he did. I recently caught up with the 24-year-old actor where he shared with me how his experiences as a director differ from his experiences as an actor, and how he is truly enjoying the newly reinvented 'One Tree Hill'.

Q-How is filming going this season?

A-Filming is going great. Everybody's been really happy with the material this season, more than any other season. It's all larger in scope, nothing like we've ever had before. We're just really happy with everything we have this season.

Q-What has it been like working with the new cast members that have joined you guys this season? You work a lot with Rob Buckley and Shantel VanSanten.

A-It's great. They're a great team there. They're really, really well prepared. This opportunity means a lot to them and it means a lot to us that everybody's taking it seriously. They're just doing a really great job and they're a lot of fun to work with.

Q-Your character and Rob Buckley's character play close friends, you seem to have really great chemistry with one another on-screen. Is that something that is translating from off-screen?

Q-Yeah, Rob's a great guy. You know that whole dynamic has been something that we sort of were lacking in the past, and it works really well now. It's a lot of fun to come to set and work with people that are ready to form some chemistry.

Q-You directed episode seven this season, and you directed an episode last season, was directing something you've always had an interest in?

A-I actually didn't always have an interest. I was kind of content until last season with my role as an actor on the show and leading a sort of low-key lifestyle. It was actually kind of a frightening prospect because you see directors come into town fresh-faced and ready to go and then leave town wore-down and tired. Then I thought to myself last season that I'd probably kick myself if I left this show and never took the opportunity to direct while I had such a great network of support, such a great family there with 'One Tree Hill'. So I took the opportunity and it's turned out really well.

Q-How does the whole directing process work, do you get to choose the episode you direct?

A-They have a list of directors for the season and you're just randomly assigned to a script. This season I was lucky enough to direct one of Mark Schwahn's episode's, which was a really great script.

Q-What can you tell the fans about the episode you directed this season?

A-It was an exciting episode to direct because it was Mark's episode and his episode's are always larger in scope and a little more ambitious than the rest. This is actually the episode where a few of the story lines culminate. Basically what I got the chance to do is wrap up a couple story lines, and try to do it in the best way possible, try to bring it off the page as well as I could because it's Mark's episode and it's important. There's going to be some exciting stuff going on.

Q-Can you say whether anything concerning the plot line of Renee, Nathan, and Haley will happen in your episode? It's definitely causing some buzz among the fans.

A-All I can say is if the fans are intrigued by that storyline then they should definitely be tuning in for the next few episodes because they're gonna get some closure where that's concerned.

Q-What is it like for you to direct and act in the same episode? Do you find that difficult at all?

A-That's actually the most difficult aspect of directing for me; to try to be in the episode. Because as an actor, personally I'm completely in a different head-space than I am when I'm trying to direct. When I come on set, I know my lines and what I'm doing in the scene and what I try to stay focused on that. Where as when you're directing, you're trying to be aware of any number of things at once, so trying to find a happy medium between the two is difficult for me.

Q-How does it differ when you yourself have to be in the scene?

A-When you're acting in a scene, you can't really micro-manage. You have to rely on other sets of eyes, your executive producers, your script supervisors and others to make sure things not only look right but are communicating right.

Q-Was there a difference between directing your co-stars who you've been with for six years, like Joy(Galeotti) and Sophia(Bush), and directing your new co-stars?

A-Not really, you know I try to implement a free-flowing and creative space when I direct. I try to make it as collaborative and comfortable as possible for them, whether it's someone I've been working with for six years or someone I just met.

Q-How much preparation do you do before day one of directing?

A-You get days eight days to prep. We shoot eight days an episode, and while the sixth episode of the season was being shot, I was prepping to direct the seventh.

Q-Anything else you would like to say to the fans about the episode your directed?

A-Just that it's definitely not one to miss. It's a big one!

StarNews: Robert Buckley makes most of ‘One Tree Hill’ role

When Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton left “One Tree Hill” at the end of last season, fans seemed to be divided about what to think.

During filming in downtown Wilmington before the first episode of season seven aired, fans stood a safe distance away, as always, hoping for a glimpse of a cast member. In interviews, some said they felt the show was so great, nothing could hurt it. Others hinted that if they didn’t like the first few episodes without “Leyton” (as Murray’s and Burton’s on-screen romantic couple were called), then they would find something else to watch on their Monday nights at home.

Those few episodes have come and gone. The show continues to be popular among The CW’s target audience of women, especially those 18 to 49. The total number of viewers averages about 2.5 million per episode.

Credit can be given to the writers and show creator Mark Schwahn for filling those holes with new characters who bring fresh scenarios to the plots. One new character, especially seems to be catching fans’ attention. And he gave the StarNews a call last week.

Robert Buckley stepped in this season as a brash young sports agent named Clay, who represents and is friends with Nathan, the basketballer played by longtime regular James Lafferty.

Brooke and Julian are in bed. Brooke says she’s inspired for a new project and she needs him to take his pants off. He says it sounds wonderful but Alex is coming over. She seems honestly into it. Brooke doesn’t buy it…Once a ho boag, always a ho bag. Julian starts to tease her about her past but Brooke stops him.
Clay runs on the beach and runs into Quinn with her camera. Quinn says she’s been afraid of the ocean since she was a little girl. Clay says to start small. He gets a call. He has to go and runs back where he came from. Quinn takes pictures of him as he goes.
Millie wakes up in Alex’s hotel room. Alex is up writing. Millie’s hair is a mess and upset that she didn’t call Mouth. Alex says she was drunk and she sent Mouth a text for her.
Dan wants Renee to go on his show to tell her story. She asks why. He says you’re the one telling the truth.
Haley confronts Nathan about the phone bill. He walks away from her. He says I’m a pro player. Sometimes people get his numbers and he calls/texts them back to say he’s happily married to someone that trusts him. He says maybe he lied when he said that though.

Mouth rushes to leave and Millie runs in. She begs him not to be mad. He says congratulations but I wish you wanted to party with me.
Nathan, Clay and Haley chat. He says they lost the Rainstorm body spray deal and maybe the shoe deal too. Clay says it’s temporary, they should come back. And Bobcats are using it to their advantage and slowing down negotiations. Haley asks if he’ll have his career back because he didn’t see him the first time. Clay says it should be fine if no one makes a big deal of it.
Dan says he’s going to make the story huge to Renee. He says he was in Nathan’s shoes once and no one made him look at what he was doing. He’s going to force Nathan to take responsibility at least financially.
Millie runs into COB late. A new assistant gives a rundown of things she’s done. Millie is upset her job was taken. Brooke says her new job is to look pretty and go do whatever models do because they have a swimsuit this afternoon.
Mouth’s coworker tells him about Nathan losing his endorsements. Mouth runs out and says he’ll be back.
Quinn takes pictures on the beach. Clay is walking on the beach. She asks if he needs a friend and he says you have no idea. They start to walk down the beach.
Julian reads. Alex is pacing and impatient. Julian finishes and says it’s genuinely good. They make plans to meet later that night to work.
Haley suggests to Nathan to pay her and he insists that they won’t.

Clay says so much is riding on this. He fell off the rails and almost got fired. Clay says he shouldn’t be with her. Nathan doesn’t want them hanging out.
Chase is in COB. Brooke asks why he’s there. He’s shopping for Mia. He asks about Julian. She says she’s just annoyed with him working with one of her models. Chase says not to worry. Brooke looks at him, sizing him up and asks what he’s doing.
Mouth goes to see Nathan. He tells him about the story and asks if it’s true. Nathan says yes and asks about his demotion. He tells him to take care of his career and do the story on him.
Alex tells Millie that Julian wants a relationship and then clarifies working relationship. Millie gives her a speech about staying away. Millie complains about her job. Alex says the model job is great and the other is made for fatties. She says Millie is a plus-size model.
Haley calls Renee. She asks for a retraction. Renee tells her the price has gone up and she has until 8 that night and she has other options.

Julian comes in to find Brooke measuring Chase. She says he was busy with Alex. He says he’s there now and ready to take his clothes off in the back room for her and she can send her boy toy packing. Brooke says she’s sticking with Chase since she’s halfway done…plus it’s all business.
Mouth tells his boss he’ll do the story and he has a quote from him. His boss okays it.
The phone rings at Nathan’s. Quinn answers it and tells him to Beat it. She says not to give Clay a hard time about them hanging out. The phone rings again. Nathan says if she wants to sleep around, do it with someone that isn’t responsible for his career.
Alex tries on a bathing suit at COB and it’s too big. And she says not to worry about her and Julian .. she got naked and he didn’t even flinch.
Mia goes to see Julian. He tells her their significant others are together working. He asks about meeting people on tour and if their talent surprises them. She says that was her and sometimes people just need someone to encourage them.

Rachel tells Dan there is lots of interest in Renee’s interview. Dan seems hesitant.Clay is at TRIC. He says you always seem to find me. She says I just follow the other girls. He asks her to stay the night like old times. She says it’s up to him. He pays and they leave.
Nathan swims at home. Haley tells him she called Renee. She tells him she’ll do the retraction for 250K. She tells Nathan she’s not asking for permission, she’s paying her.

Brooke yells to Chase about Alex. He tells her she seems like high school Brooke.
Clay and Sara talk at his place. She asks why he blames himself for Nathan’s troubles. He says the girls, the parties. She asks if he thinks he did it and he says no. Sara tells him to stop blaming himself and fix it. Clay asks her to stay the night, he misses it. He needs it.
Mouth does the story on Nathan. He says it’s his opinion its reckless to continue to report on it. His boss is locked in his office.
Millie takes some of Alex’s pills in her hotel. Julian and Alex are working in the room.
Brooke is at home and looks back in her high school scrapbooks.
Mouth’s boss makes a call and it’s ignored. He walks out and takes his tie off.
Haley and Nathan sit at home. He says the retraction won’t make a difference. He thinks the only reason she wants to pay him is because she doesn’t believe him. He says if she’s lost faith in him, then all the money in the world won’t fix it.

Quinn looks at her pictures in her room. Nathan goes to talk to her. He apologizes for earlier. She apologizes about Renee. She believes him and he’s not a coward. She’s not running away from her problems, she’s just walking way from something’s that broken. She just doesn’t know how to let him go. He says she’s welcome as long as it takes.
Mia has a dinner ready for Chase on the pool table. They talk about him and Brooke.
Mouth goes to see Millie and she starts to cry. She has her bathing suit on. She thinks she made a mistake. She likes to feel special but she’s not, she’s just Millie. He says she’s still a model and if modeling makes her feel special, she should do it because she deserves to feel special every day.
Alex and Julian work. She watches his butt as he leans over a storyboard. Someone knocks. It’s Brooke. She fires Alex. She realizes she’s high school Brooke and she’d never let her near her boyfriend. And Julian has the couch since he didn’t tell her about her getting naked.
Haley makes a call.
Rachel and Renee meet. Rachel says Dan is doing this to bury Nathan not help him and the more he’s buried the more money has to pay Renee. She asks if she’ll do the show. Renee looks at her phone and says ok, I’m in.
Haley tells Nathan she didn’t do it. She couldn’t. He says that’s why he could never leave her and sets her apart. She doesn’t want him to lose his dream. He says his dream is right there and he’s never letting go.
Sara sleeps in Clay’s bed. He watches her.
Millie lies awake as Mouth sleeps. She seems nervous and gets out of bed and takes a pill.
Quinn is on the beach and slowly walks in the water.

7.06 Deep Ocean Vast Sea Quotes

Julian: She (Alex) seems to have really come around.
Brooke: I doubt it. Once a ho-bag, always a ho-bag.
Julian: Now if I remember correctly…
Brooke: You might want to reconsider what you were about to say.

Millie: I never called Marvin!
Alex: Duh, Gisele. I thought you were mad at him.

Alex’s Text from Millie’s phone to Mouth: Melvin, got my drink on…if you’re done being a tool come rock out with your cock out….

Nathan: I’m a professional basketball player; girls get a hold of my email and my cell phone number all the time. And when they contact me I call them back to tell them stop, because I’m happily married to a woman who loves and trusts me. But I guess that was a lie, because she doesn’t trust me.

Julian: (After reading Alex’s script) Where did this come from?
Alex: Well I was watching Millicent sleep and she was busted and I thought about what it would be like to be that tragic, and have no self-confidence, and then I just added a boy.

Mouth: I would offer to spot you but I max out around 180…ish.
Nathan: No offense Mouth, but the past few times you’ve shown up you’ve had bad news.
Mouth: I heard you lost your endorsement deals. They’re breaking the story on the 6 o’clock news. Is it true?
Nathan: Yeah.
Mouth: I’m sorry Nate.
Nathan: Yeah, me too. I heard about your demotion. How long are they going to keep you locked up in the basement?
Mouth: The truth? Until I do a story on you.
Nathan: Then do the story. I’m serious. Your career is far more important, and you’ve already done more than enough.

Julian: (to Mia about Chase and Brooke) Your tall, dark and handsome is doing a fitting with my short, hot and bossy.

Brooke: (about Alex) No I’m not okay. Ho-bag got naked in front of Julian!
Chase: Ho-bag?
Brooke: Alex ‘my butt is the size of a cumquat’ Dupree, my model. She’s so manipulative and materialistic and self-serving, and naked and…
Chase: Brookish?

Mouth: Nathan Scott is a Tree Hill local who overcame injury and adversity to achieve his dream, a dream to play professional basketball. But lately Nathan’s career has taken a backseat to allegations of an affair that led to the pregnancy of a fan. In my opinion, continuing to report on these allegations without any further evidence of their validity is a reckless attempt on the part of this network to boost ratings. I’m not saying athletes are above the law, but I think it’s up to science to determine the validity of these claims, not the evening news. To date there’s been no new evidence that suggests that Nathan Scott is guilty of these allegations. And yet he looks guiltier the more that we report on him. For my part I got into sports news because I think reporting on athletes inspires people to be exceptional. And while I’ve never been an exceptional athlete I can strive to be exceptional in my own way: by refusing to bow to pressure, by refusing to stoop to a level that’s beneath me, just like Nathan Scott has refused to. I believe in Nathan Scott, but I also believe in my viewers. I believe you don’t want any part in dragging him through the mud. So if you want sports news and not gossip, turn the channel, let my boss know that news isn’t just about ratings. It’s about people, and integrity, but mostly it’s about truth and that still means something. I’m Marvin McFadden and this is sports. Or at least it used to be.

Nathan: A retraction at this point won’t change anyone’s opinion.
Haley: It might.
Nathan: They’ll all just assume you paid her off. We will have, which will just make me look even more guilty. You should know this Haley, which makes me think the only reason you haven’t left to pay her off is that you’re starting to believe she might be telling the truth. Haley, if I’m guilty of this, not only am I the kind of guy that would cheat on you, I’m the kind of guy that would father a child then turn his back. I’m Dan Scott. If you think I’m capable of that you do what you have to do, but I can guarantee you if you’ve lost faith in me, all the money in the world isn’t going to fix it.

Quinn: If I was okay I’d be a pretty lousy person.
Nathan: Sorry about earlier, it’s just been…
Quinn: I’m sorry that woman is lying about you. I know you’d never hurt Haley like that. And you’re not a coward. If anyone’s a coward, it’s me. And I’m not running away form my problems Nathan, I’m walking away from something that’s broken. And that doesn’t mean I’m not scared.

Haley: I didn’t do it. I couldn’t. (pay Renee)
Nathan: That’s what sets you apart from her. It’s one of the thousand reasons why I could never cheat on you.
Haley: I don’t want to see you lose your dream.
Nathan: Lose her? She’s right here. I’m never letting go of her.

JustJared: James Lafferty Interview

One Tree Hill hunk James Lafferty opens up about his new co-stars Robert Buckley and Shantel VanSanten and what the set is like without Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton.

JJ: Hi, James! How are you, where are you calling from?

JL: I’m calling from my place in L.A. I just actually got in town from Wilmington (North Carolina) yesterday so I’ll be here for a little while. I’m not scheduled to film for a few days, so I just came back here to get some work done.

JJ: How many episodes are you shooting this season?

JL: This season, 24, I think. We were in the middle of filming episode 11. We’re almost halfway. Basically, we’re finishing up our first 13 episodes - we’re trying to finish by Thanksgiving and then after that we’ll continue with the rest of the season.

JJ: What is your character going through at the moment?

JL: Right now, Nathan is through the ceiling - he’s trying to get his professional act back together after going through the entire process with Renee accusing him of infidelity, having his reputation smeared - he’s trying to get that back at this point.

James Lafferty Interview — JustJared.com Interview

JJ: What’s the new season like without Chad and Hilarie around?

JL: It’s actually been great - all the new faces on the show have really fit in and they’re really prepared and really, really dedicated. Shantel and Rob have brought a different energy to the show and their commitment to the characters and their work ethic is outstanding. We’ve done a really good job with moving forward and getting the audience to commit to these new characters. That’s a big testament to Rob and Shantel and the work they’ve done.

JJ: You and Rob seem like you would get along really well off-set - do you hang out together?

JL: Yeah! It’s cool - it’s kind of funny, because all the new characters on the show had been sort of trying to tie up all the loose ends of their lives before they got to Wilmington, so whether it’s getting rid of apartments or packing things up and bringing them out here, everybody’s been reading and kicking back a lot. But I’d say that Rob and I are good friends now and it’s a cool dynamic to have someone who has a lot of common interests, so we play a lot of video games and read a lot of graphic novels and just kind of hang out.

JJ: What kinds of video games do you play?

JL: We’ve been on a UFC kick for a while - there’s a UFC fighting video game that’s got us pretty addicted. (Ultimate Fighting Championship is a mixed martial arts organization.)

JJ: What’s been your favorite change on this season of OTH plot-wise?

JL: I think my favorite so far is with Nathan and the Scott family’s new life. It was funny - when we came back, they were building the set for the new Scott house and they hadn’t finished it yet but I went on the stage where the old Scott house used to be and there was actually another set - there was a Tree Hill High School set on that stage as well. But the new Scott house set was so massive when it was being built that it actually took up the entire stage, basically.

The Tree Hill High School stage is gone, the old Nathan and Haley house is gone, and basically it’s a dance studio and the Scott house. And when they finally finished it, I went in there again - we film in there all the time now - but it’s really cool to sit there and kind of soak it in and look at the house that we film in for Nathan and Haley - it’s so big and beautiful and we actually have a pool indoors on the stage we shoot at, so to look at that and then look back at where Nathan and Haley started in their shabby little apartment. It’s cool to let that soak in and see where we’ve taken the characters.

JJ: If the producers asked you to sign on for two more seasons, would you sign up?

JL: I don’t know - I really couldn’t answer that question right now! I’m definitely signed on for one more season after this. And so if they wanted to do an eighth season, I’d be there. Anything after that is up in the air. [Creator] Mark Schwahn has done such a good job of revamping the show time and time again, keeping it relevant and keeping the audience watching. And if there were more stories to tell, it’s always a possibility.

JJ: Do you have an opinion of where Nathan should be by the end of the series?

JL: I think Nathan belongs with his family, I absolutely think so - whether or not there’s another kid involved. Whether or not Nathan stays in the NBA, I think his foundation he’s built for himself is rooted in Haley and Jamie, so I think that’s where he belongs at the end of the show.

JJ: Do you have any other projects you’re working on right now besides OTH?

JL: Yeah, we’re shooting a documentary. I have this sports coordination company called SportsArc I started with my friend Brendan Kirsch and we’re tracking projects to do sports coordination for. (The company bridges the gap between sports and film production.) But also on the side, we’re producing a documentary about a high school football player here in southern California who’s trying to get a scholarship to go to school and start his future in football.

That’s entitled The Hopeful right now and it’s a documentary. so as things go, the story develops and we don’t know how long we’re going to be following him or when the story is going to end. But that’s something that we’re shooting right now and is continuously in development. But on the acting side, I’m focusing on One Tree Hill for right now and trying to keep my options open for when we have our hiatus.
