We don’t know what ya’ll do in your free time, but we’re not ashamed to admit that replaying episodes of One Tree Hill is one of our favorite pastimes. Go ahead. Judge.
So you can imagine how excited we were when we found out original castmember Chad Michael Murray was returning for the final season, and even better, we got to sit down with to learn all the details about Lucas Scott’s Tree Hill homecoming. Plus, we’ve got exclusive scoop from Bethany Joy Galeotti about this season’s Naley drama and how she really feels about Chad returning to the show…

“We get a little bit of an opportunity to see what we really loved in the relationship between Haley and Luke,” Murray tells us with a smile. “And it’s just kind of a little throwback and a little visit for our fans and for our wonderful following.” He’s baa-ack!
Former on-screen BFF Galeotti gushed: “It was wonderful having Chad back! Chad and I hit it off right away from my first screen test and we’ve been friends ever since and we’ve been through a lot of ups and downs but you know, he’s dear to my heart. It was wonderful to have him around.”

HollyWood Life: One Tree Hill Season 9 Spoiler — Is Brooke And Julian’s Baby Dead?

We all knew the ninth season of One Tree Hill was going to be rough, but I don’t think anyone was expecting to see Brooke (Sophia Bush) and Julian’s (Austin Nichols) son Davis being carried off in a stretcher on last week’s episode. “It could happen with any parent,” Austin told HollywoodLife.com during our recent visit to the show’s North Carolina set, adding that “Julian really puts a lot of blame on himself for this thing that happens.”

And while it will be difficult to watch Julian deal with the consequences of his neglectfulness — he accidentally left Davis alone in the car to suffocate — Austin says he’s reveling in the drama.

Buddy TV: The CW Orders Pilots for Time Travel Musical, Mark Schwahn Drama and Futuristic Series

The CW is going to have plenty of new hour-long dramas to choose for its fall schedule this year. We previously reported on orders for four pilots, including a Green Arrow series, and now comes word that the CW is ordering three more pilots, including two sci-fi shows and a new drama from One Tree Hill creator Mark Schwahn produced by Lost’s J.J. Abrams.

Shelter

Created by Schwahn, this drama is set in a summer resort in Maine as the staff deals with their own issues as well as the problems of the guests. After nine seasons on One Tree Hill, it will be interesting to see what Schwahn does next, but the potential mix of relationship drama and comedy sounds right up is alley. Plus, I hope that the cast will feature a few One Tree Hill alums (Matt Barr could be a good employee and Daphne Zuniga could make a spectacular hotel owner).

Exclusive First Look: Stephen Colletti and Chelsea Kane Get Hot and Heavy on One Tree Hill

It didn't take long for One Tree Hill's Chase to get steamy with someone new.

In our first-look photo, Chelsea Kane begins her multiple episode arc as Tara, the new girl getting extremely cozy with recently single Chase (Stephen Colletti).

In addition to having an on-screen romance, Colletti and the former Dancing with the Stars competitor are dating in real life. Colletti told TVGuide.com he loved welcoming her into the Tree Hill world, adding, "The character was fun for her and something people aren't used to seeing from her."

But Tara won't have a warm welcome into the group as she's the owner of the just-opened rival restaurant across from Karen's Café.

"There are some fun little escapades that Haley and Brooke go on trying to do right by the name of Karen's Café," Bethany Joy Galleoti, who plays Haley, told TVGuide.com. "She stirs some stuff up," Colletti added.

Kane's arc begins airing on Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 8/7c on The CW.

Sophia Bush on One Tree Hill's Tragic Accident: "Major Drama" to Come!

On last night's episode of One Tree Hill, viewers were shocked to witness what appeared to be the aftermath of a horrible accident involving baby Davis. It's still not clear what happened, but it's definitely not good.

So can Brooke and Julian survive this tragedy? When we chatted with Sophia Bush, she answered that very question…

"Brooke and Julian (Austin Nichols), I think, are a very solid duo," she tells our own Kristin Dos Santos. "There's no one who worked with Brooke ever until Julian came along, so I think that that can give people a little bit of comfort, knowing that."

We'd do a little happy dance knowing that the new parents were going to make it, but it's One Tree Hill! Nothing is every that easy.

"There's major drama this season. There has to be," Sophia said. "If you want to get the high, high, high, you have to have the low, low, low and we want to deliver on those big highs for the fans. So we take the show, certainly between Brooke and Julian, with Nathan and Haley, with everyone, we take it to a pretty low place quite a few times this year. But the payoff is there."

Hear that, OTH fans? The next couple of episodes will probably be full of lots of tears and drama, but at least the uphill climb will be worth it...right?

Jamie: Come on your like the farmer guy in the middle of nowhere who decided to build a baseball field in his back yard everyone told him he was crazy but you know what he built it anyway all because he heard a voice that said “If you build it he will come”…and you know what? He came! In fact lots of people came.
Julian: That’s a pretty good story Jamie. Guess I just need to have a little faith huh?
Jamie: Well the thing is that’s actually a movie…you should probably know that if you wanna make it in show business
(Julian laughs)

(Brooke walks into house)
Victoria: Well that was quick
Brooke: Im seriously not in the mood Victoria
Victoria: Let me guess he got some bimbo to impress some horny investors
(Brooke points at herself)
Brooke: Thanks mom. Where are the boys?
Victoria: They’re sleeping. I took Jude’s temperature twice and he doesn’t have a fever but he has a runny nose
Brooke: You know I just wanted to spend the day with him and somehow even that was too much to ask.
Victoria: Is this where I give you my sad face?
Brooke: Oh please we both know you botoxed away all remnants of human emotion
Victoria: Don’t you take this out on me. I tried to show you who your father really is and if he’d been around more this would not be a surprise.
Brooke: Point taken. I don’t know I guess I just hoped…
Victoria: What? That he could change?
Brooke: You did.
Victoria: Honey that is who the man is…ok…despite all of his promises he has never changed and he will never change. I guess we should give him credit for being consistent. I have to go.

Haley: Dan not a day goes by that I don’t miss Keith. Or hate you for what you did to him. To Nathan and to our entire family, I have no sympathy for you. But if there is such a thing as rehabilitation or forgiveness then I believe a person should have the opportunity to prove that they’ve changed. That’s why you’re here.

Julian: He doesnt get a free pass. I just want Brooke to be happy and right now she’s happy because her father is back in her life.

Doctor Hudson: Not definitively but all your tests look fine. Have you ever seen a psychiatrist?
Clay: So, you don’t think there’s anything actually wrong with me?
Quinn: Clay, she’s just trying to help.
Clay: A long time ago, I saw a psychiatrist.
Doctor Hudson: Can I ask why?
Clay: My wife passed away and my doctor thought it would help if I talk to someone.
Doctor Hudson: And did it?
Clay: No, not really. Yea, that was a long time ago. I don’t think that’s what’s affecting me. I just need to sleep better. So, isn’t there some kind of treatment, prescription that you can recommend?
Quinn: Why don’t you just suggest a psychiatrist doctor Hudson?
Doctor Hudson: Historically, many sleep disorders are triggered by something psychological.

Quinn: Why wouldn’t you?
Clay: Cause its weird
Quinn: It’s not weird. It might help.
Clay: It might not.
Quinn: Clay, if seeing a psychiatrist is going to help you then go see a psychiatrist. Why are you being so stubborn?
Clay: How am I being stubborn?
Quinn: You didn’t even want to go to the doctor. You said you were fine then I wake up and you are nowhere to be found and this isn’t getting better. Do you understand what this feels like?
Clay: How would you like to be the one wondering around the country side?
Quinn: I wouldn’t want to be but if I was and seeing a psychiatrist could stop it. Then I would go in a second. I think its terrible what’s happening to you but this is happening to me too. I feel so panicked because you are out there and you’re not yourself and I am worried that someone is going to hurt you or that something bad might happen to you.
Clay: I know, but let me just try this new medication and let’s see what happens. I have an agency to run; I have to go to Europe now that Nate’s back. I know that this is our problem, it’s not just mine but I have a life to live.
Quinn: What about tonight? What if it happens again?
Clay: I don’t know, hand cuff me to the bed.

Clay: Just feeling sorry for myself. I was in such a dark place after Sara died and then were in the hospital, rehab. I just want things to be normal. I want to close my eyes to you, wake up to you and live our lives together.

Clay: Yea, I’m hoping this new medication does the trick. Because if it’s physical, I’m sick but if it’s in my head, I’m just crazy.

It’s the beginning of the end for One Tree Hill, and it’s really official now that the last season is under way. No more denying it; soon we’ll have no more OTH in our lives.
Lucky for you guys, we were on set while they filmed the final season last year, so we made sure to squeeze every last bit of scoop and nostalgia out of the cast. Here’s part one of our exclusive sit-down with the stars of OTH where they talk about saying goodbye to Tree Hill and what’s ahead for their characters…

Austin Nichols and Shantel VanSanten may be relative OTH newbies, but that doesn’t mean season nine will put them on the sidelines. After all, one managed to marry the one and only Brooke Davis (Sophia Bush) and the other is part of what we hear is a very intriguing storyline. We’re talking about Clay (Robert Buckley) and Quinn, of course.

“I think that we’ve presented our characters with a lot of challenges in these 13 episodes,” Shantel tells us. “I think that we have the strength to make it through these challenges that we’re presented, but you never know where life leads you. And I think obviously the end goal that we both have in mind is that we don’t see our life ending without each other. We see it being forever, but you just never know.”

Tutor Girl. Baby Mama. Kelly Clarkson. Yes, Haley James Scott has gone by many different names during her nine seasons on One Tree Hill — and I’ve loved every one of them. During a recent visit to the show’s North Carolina set, HollywoodLife.com chatted with Bethany Joy Galeotti about all things Haley, and it got me thinking about just how far she’s come.

“I’m happy with Haley, what she’s been through and where she’s come,” Bethany says of heading into the show’s final season. “What more could [the fans] ask for than to see everybody kind of come back to where they started, back to why everyone fell in love with the show in the first place?”

I couldn’t agree more.

Season 1: Tutor Haley

When I watch season one reruns, I barely even recognize Haley -- and not just because she was frequently hidden under that ridiculous hat. Attached to best friend Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) at the hip, Haley was shy, insecure, and strangest of all, NOT with Nathan (James Lafferty). Still, Bethany says there's one thing about Haley that will never change: "She will land in the same place she started -- just a simple girl who enjoys a simple life."

Sophia Bush teases 'One Tree Hill' trauma to come and the 'perfect' series finale

Occasionally, when we talk to "One Tree Hill" star Sophia Bush, the lines between fiction and reality begin to blur. We mean that as a compliment -- after nine years of watching the show, the place where Sophia ends and Brooke Davis begins has become less defined. 

Sophia knows the feeling. "We were shooting a scene in the finale and Brooke was revisiting the high school hallways," she says. (The high school sets were rebuilt for the final episodes... so prepare your kleenex and wine supply now.) "I walked in there and it was like everything I'd ever experienced as Brooke Davis and also as myself, all my best days... all my worst days... as a young girl making mistakes and a young girl having great success-- whatever it was, it all came back to me and it was incredible emotional." 

When the director wrapped the scene and said, "Let's move on," the words hit Sophia hard.

"On the same side of the coin, most shows don't last this long. Most shows don't make it 6 years let alone 9, so I really feel like it's all just been a gift," she says. "I don't feel like I'm allowed to be very upset that it's done, because it almost never happens that it continues like this did."

In last week's season premiere, we saw Brooke at a relatively stable place in her life, with her family safe and her career on an upswing. During driving scenes with her babies, though, we couldn't help but worry that, in true Tree Hill fashion, a truck was going to come and mow her entire family off the road.

"No accidents for Brooke Davis," Sophia teases. "But many metaphorical trucks are coming, yes."

When deciding whether or not to sign on for Season 9, Sophia was particularly intrigued by a storyline with one of the babies -- in fact, it was one of the driving forces behind her signing that contract. "Now what we see, particularly in the US, is that with the length of our work week, people are crumbling," she says. "People are one misstep away from destruction, very often, because everyone's running themselves into the ground. A lot of parents have that issue with their children. They screw up in some way."

Julian, OTH fans, is about to screw up.

That "metaphorical truck" isn't going to devastate the Brulian family forever, luckily. Sophia directed episode 912 -- the penultimate episode of the series -- and she promises that at least some of our heartache will have eased by then. "The nostalgia and happiness surrounding all the characters had me crying behind the monitor every day," she says. "I just felt so wonderful for what I was watching."

As for moving on from Brooke and finding another character to inhabit and to love, Sophia has earned the right to be picky. "If she's the right one, she's got to be someone who I love and someone who I want to fight for," she says. "I'm reading a lot, and I'm looking to find what inspires me, and what really sparks my interest, and what's going to make me want to give up my life the way I gave up my life for this... I'm already being pitched some really excellent material and I feel like whatever is supposed to happen, will. I know that's a little hippie-dippy, but that's me."

Sophia recently watched the series finale -- she and co-stars Bethany Joy Galeotti, Antwon Tanner, and Lee Norris did a DVD commentary on it. "It's perfect," she says. "My heart was just swelling and of course, I was bawling. It just is. It just worked. I felt really good about it."

Don't forget to tune in on Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. EST for the final season of "One Tree Hill" -- all 13 episodes are airing without repeats or hiatuses. As it should be.

Brooke and Julian in bed. They wake up to the sound of no babies crying. Brooke freaks out. Start running through the house looking for them. Down in the kitchen Victoria has them. Both Brooke and Julian are concerned and want to make sure they are ok. Victoria has all under control. Brooke is supposed to go meet her dad to get help with Baker Man.
Nathan tells Haley, that Dan being at the house is not good. She asks what she supposed to do. He asks for help in a Church. Nathan says that is one of the things he loves about her how caring she is. Haley did say that she told Dan if Nathan says he had to go he had to go.
Nathan goes to the room Dan is in and tells Dan he has to go.
Chase’s alarm goes off. He apologizes to an empty bed.
Alex is in the studio and she is rerecording her guitar parts. She asks what happened to him as an artist and he tells of his song all over the tv last year and plays the toaster pastry song. They laugh. Chris says he wished back in the day someone had talked to him. He had missed some opportunities.
Millie says someone needs to talk to him. She is concerned about Mouths health, She is at the tv studio.
Millie is home. He has gained weight and eating a big sub.
Clay is at the hospital. Quinn comes in upset and gives him a big hug. 

Nathan surprises Jamie. He thanks his dad for letting Grandpa Dan stay and asks Haley why there is no place setting for him at the table. Nathan and Haley give each other a look.
Dan is at the table. Jamie is setting up a camping trip together in the back yard. Nathan gives Dan a look. Dan steps in and says he may be leaving tonight because the insurance people have a place for him. Jamie doesn’t understand.
Julian is eating with Victoria. She is not happy that Brooke is going to work her dad. Victoria is insistent that her dad is up to something.
Clay has had scans of his head and the doctor is saying it is all in his head. All his tests look fine. She recommends a psychiatrist. He says he just needs more sleep.  They get home and he is not going to see one. Quinn is panicked that something is going to happen to him and he is saying he wants to try the medicine and wont go to doctor.
Millie at the tv studio says she could not talk to Mouth about his weight issue. No one can.
Chuck asks Chase about Chris. Chuck says Chase should be worrying about him. They decided to go on a mission together, move all of Alex’s stuff into Chase’s place.
Brooke is waiting on her dad. 

Alex and Chris are working close together on her song. Chase and Chuck show up. Chuck goes in to distract so Chase can get Alex’s keys. Alex catches him. He says he is borrowing to buy her something. Chase goes to get Chuck and and Chris and and Chuck are singing together. Chase gives a face! Chuck now wants to stay. He ends up going with Chase.
Brookes dad shows up. He says he has someone wanting to invest in highend baby clothes. Brooke asks if they can include mom and he says she had her chance.
Jamie thinks it’s cool that Clay ended in the park. Clay is pissed because Quinn has called Nathan. She doesn’t think he needs to go overseas. He says he can and he will handcuff himself to the bed. Nathan is not so sure about the plan either.
Nathan tells Haley he has to go to Europe. He tells Haley about his plan to handcuff himself to the bed. She agrees. Nathan says Dan has to go though. Dan is listening outside the door. 

Chuck is helping Chase pack up Alex’s things. Chuck comes out of the bathroom and asks if his hair looks like Chris Keller’s hair. Chuck says that guy is so cool and starts singing the toaster pastry song.
Nathan and Jamie are playing basketball at home. Jamie tells his dad he knows that it is him that won’t let his Grandpa dan stay.
Dan meets Haley out back at the pool. Haley says that she had no sympathy for him and she misses Keith everyday but if there is an opportunity for forgiveness that is why he is here.
Mouth and Millie are doing a kitchen show. Mouth eats the food and Millie just looks.
Brooke meets Julian at the soundstage. Julian says her going into business with her dad is going to make her mom insane.
Brooke goes home furious at her mom. Victoria is insistent that Brookes father has not changed. She ends up walking out.

Chris and Alex listening to her song again. She tells Chris he was right. He says she needs to tour. She is saying she can’t leave. She makes a crack at him. He laughs and say you make fun of my career I told you it was because I didn’t listen to people.
Julian is riding around on camera tracks at his sound stage. Alex comes in to ask his advice on this tour. She doesn’t want to lose chase but she loves living out of suitcase.
Millie asks Mouth to go for run. He says he is going to stay on the couch. He will be right here when she gets back.
Chase and Chuck are still unpacking Alex’s stuff. Chase is giving Chuck Alex’s advice. Chuck wonders if Chris has a girlfriend and he starts talking in 3rd person.
Nathan is packed and ready to go. Doorbell rings and Chris is at the door. Nathan is shocked with a chuckle to learn that he is running the record label and gives them a minute. Chris says he heard through the grapevines that Nate was leaving and if she needs anything he means anything Chris Keller will be there for her.
Clay is at his pool. Quinn joins him. He just wants things to be normal. He is hoping the medicine will help because if it is in his head then it is in his head. 

Alex comes to Chases places to see her surprise. He say he loves her and thinks the right step is her moving in. He hugs her and she is crying. They are in bed. She asks about what he sees in his future, his life. She finally responds back with “I love you”.
Brooke looks in on the babies and Julian in the babies room
Brookes mom and dad are meeting together for lunch. They are beating each other up with words. Victoria says do not hurt our daughter or I will hurt you. She gets up and leaves.
Alex is looking at her all her things in Chase’s place.
Alex enters recording studio and Chris is playing on the piano. He stops. Alex says she wants to take the tour.
Clay is at pharmacy and when his name is called he walks away and leaves it the script behind.
Nathan picks up Lydia and tells her to quit getting so big. Nathan kisses Haley good bye.
Dan is playing cards with Jamie. Nathan comes in and tells him goodbye. He asks to speak with Dan outside.
Nathan tell Dan to figure his stuff out and to be gone by the time he gets back. Jamie runs outside and is glad to see his grandpa Dan still there. Dan watches Nathans car drive off.

Will One Tree Hill’s Dan Scott gain forgiveness in this final season?

As the resident villain, Dan (Paul Johansson) has long been shunned by his son Nathan (James Lafferty) and his family, but on the Season 9 premiere a much more broken-down Dan returned to town in hopes of convincing Nathan and his wife Haley to help him to get back on his feet.

“In the past, Dan’s presence has brought a lot of turmoil and conflict, but this year, the way he colors Nathan’s life is much, much different,” Lafferty tells TVGuide.com. “Nathan’s actually going to need Dan a bit more this year.”

Tragedy, transformation and troubled couples: What to expect From One Tree Hill’s last season.

But can Dan ever redeem himself for killing his brother Keith, among other things? Lafferty says, “That remains to be seen. That’s largely at the heart of Nathan’s storyline this season and that’s one of the things we have to see him come to terms with — whether or not he can forgive Dan towards the end.”

It only seems fitting that the series, which began by highlighting Nathan and Dan’s intense relationship, comes full circle with the storyline — although it seems one of them might not make it out alive. When asked about that body Haley identifies in the season premiere, Lafferty says, “It definitely has something to do with Nathan’s storyline, but I can’t tell you how much.”

One Tree Hill – When One Tree Hill ends later this season, it’ll amazingly leave behind at most one other scripted show that existed before the WB/UPN merger. Even in its last couple years of decline, it’s still been a pretty competitive show on the CW spectrum. And at least on premiere night for the final season, that remains the case. OTH returned to 1.72 million viewers and a 0.9 demo, which was down from last season’s premiere (2.14 million, 1.1 demo) and about where the show was at this time last year (its midseason return got 1.89 million and a 0.9 last year on January 25). The show may be on its way out, but a 0.9 is a really good number for its network right now. It exceeds recent results from all CW scripted shows not named The Vampire Diaries. The only thing is that I doubt that number will hold up in the short term, as American Idol invades the TV landscape next week.

Chad Michael Murray tweeted some news this morning that’s been hotly anticipated by “One Tree Hill” fans — the date his character, Lucas, returns to the locally filmed drama series “One Tree Hill.”

He tweeted: “The Lucas returns OTH ep airs Feb 22nd here in the states. Not sure bout international date. It’s ep 7. Cheers all!”

So mark your calendars. The sensitive Tree Hill basketballer returns Feb. 22. Fans will undoubtedly be disappointed that Peyton (Hilarie Burton) isn’t joining him. But fans have been clamoring for his return since Murray left the show after the season six finale.

In a rare show of acknowledgment that the show is still on its network, The CW feted the cast of “One Tree Hill” Thursday night at the Television Critics Association winter press tour in Pasadena.

On hand were showrunners Mark Schwahn and Joe Davola and cast members James Lafferty, Sophia Bush, Bethany Joy Galeotti, Shantel VanSanten, Antwon Tanner, Lee Norris, Stephen Colletti, Paul Johansson and Tyler Hilton. I’ll post more from my interviews later both on this blog and over at StarNewsOnline.com, but here are a few tidbits I picked up from the party last night. (Many of these I’ve already shared on Twitter.)

Treasure trove: Mark Schwahn kept the huge neon sign that hung in Tric. He said he had it shipped to his farm in the Midwest.

Cast change: In the original pilot, Samantha Shelton was cast as Lucas’ best friend, Reagan. Mark said he expected her to steal the show. The suits wanted the role recast, though, so Galeotti was brought in and the character was renamed Haley. As he started writing for Galeotti, Schwahn said Haley became less sarcastic and more heartfelt.

Superhero Mouth? North Carolina native Lee Norris relocated to Los Angeles after filming wrapped. “I need a job!” he said. “And I don’t think there’s a part for me in ‘Iron Man 3′ (which will film in Wilmington in 2012).”

At the Television Critics Association winter press tour today, CW president Mark Pedowitz told me that “One Tree Hill” should air all 13 episodes of its final season with no breaks. So doing a little math after last night’s debut, that puts the finale on Wednesday, April 4.
Obviously, unforeseen scheduling changes could still come. But it seems pretty safe to assume that the show will be left alone in its new 8 p.m. Wednesday slot.

In the opening moments of tonight's "One Tree Hill" season premiere, the audience immediately realizes that our favorite characters are in for a harrowing, heartbreaking thirteen episodes. Still, Nathan, Haley, Brooke, and the rest of the gang have been through hell before -- so we were pretty confident that they can handle whatever is thrown at them at this point.

That is, until we met up with series star James Lafferty at the Zap2it offices this morning and he warned us, "It's by far Nathan's worst year. Absolutely." After car accidents, school shootings, traumatic injuries, and really bad hair, that's saying something.

Certainly the arrival of Dan (Paul Johansson), Nathan's dad, doesn't exactly signal harmony in the Scott household. Lafferty tells us that the contentious relationship between the father and son will shift significantly this year.

"The nature of their relationship this season is far different from anything we've seen so far," he says, acknowledging the possibility of some forgiveness. "There are going to be some things that they go through that we haven't seen them tackle before. It's very very different, and very high-stakes and I think there's going to be a great payoff there for two of them."

As for Nathan and Haley, Lafferty promises that there's still spark in the romance that has become the center of the show. "They're a rock solid unit as they always have been, and they're going to be tested this season, of course, but I think the fans can definitely look forward to some classic Naley moments," he teases.

With all the turbulent ups and downs of this shortened season, we're a little nervous about the way it'll all end -- particularly given the fact that there are only 13 episodes for the characters to come out on the other side of the trauma they're about to endure. After playing Nathan for nine years, though, Lafferty feels satisfied by where he left the character. "I think all of our characters have a lot of things we go through this season, and as actors, we had a lot of work to do in that capacity," he says. "But like I said, the payoff is really there at the end, for the fans, and for us as actors playing these roles."

This November, we followed along with the cast as they said goodbye, one by one, to Tree Hill, Wilmington, and each other. Given the fact that we shed a few tears from thousands of miles away, we can't imagine the emotional toll that week took on the actors who had brought the characters to life for close to a decade.

"I think that the saying goodbye to everybody, crew and cast, that experience had been undermined by saying goodbye to everybody like three times before," Lafferty says, referring to the several other years when the show was on the brink of cancellation. "Everybody was so sick of saying goodbye. It was saying goodbye to the world that really affected me. On my very last day of shooting, I wrapped and I said goodbye to everybody, and it didn't really hit me until I walked into my trailer. I shut the door to my trailer and I changed for the last time, and I was in this trailer for the last time that I'd spent so many years in -- basically my entire adult life -- and I was never going to be in that trailer again or have the same experience with the same people again. It was a quiet, private moment, but it was there."

Now, with a few months between him and his last day in Tree Hill, Lafferty is ready to move on to his next project. Though some of his co-stars are hoping to avoid TV for the time being -- Bethany Joy Galeotti, for example, tells us that she's looking forward to playing a variety of characters as opposed to committing to another long-term role -- Lafferty says that he is open to doing another television series.

"It just depends on what the project is," he says. "Working so long on the show I've realized that I don't want to go too long without working. It's just kind of part of me now to constantly have something to do and to constantly be on a set. I want to keep that going. I think it's given me purpose in life and it's going to continue to be my purpose."

One Tree Hill‘s final season kicks off this Wednesday at 8/7c, and while you may think you already know every little thing there is to know about the CW sudser’s last hurrah, Mark Schwahn is here to set you straight.
The OTH creator shares here, in his own words, the goods on what Season 9 has in store for the small town’s beloved twosomes — romantic or otherwise.

HALEY & NATHAN | “I don’t think it would be Nathan and Haley if they didn’t have obstacles ahead of them. That being said, we get to see the strength of that couple and the reasons they are so destined to be together. We’re in Season 9 and we know the fans care deeply about them, so we wouldn’t have done a last season in which they weren’t the focal point.”

BROOKE & JULIAN | “I was really compelled by the fact that Brooke has wanted that family dynamic for so long — which is why in Episode 1, it’s funny to see how sleepless and miserable she and Julian have become. But at the same time, her life is not without its struggles, but the place she’s at currently is really good. Obstacles will present themselves, some of them family-related and some of them professional, and then there’s the matter of [Brooke's Season 6 attacker] Xavier’s parole, which is also on the horizon. But for them, first and foremost, it’s that they have have a family now, and their responsibility towards that will dictate some of their choices.”

HALEY & CHRIS KELLER | “Chris Keller (played by Tyler Hilton) carries a torch for Haley, there’s no doubt about it. They’re both older now, but they’re still the same people they always were — and Chris is still a wonderful scoundrel. He’ll still be in Haley’s life a lot this season, and he’ll still be a bit of a predator. But Haley is more mature now and has a family that she loves very much, so their relationship is framed so differently than when they were together before. I feel that when Chris Keller is onscreen, there’s just a different dynamic to the show in really fun, playful ways because villains can make choices that the heroes can’t. But sometimes the antagonists can be the heroes and people will see a little bit of that this year — and not just from Chris.”

CHRIS KELLER & DAN | “Villains understand villains. I can’t even tell if Dan likes Chris Keller at all, but he does know that in a pinch there’s someone who will understand the language he’s speaking, and maybe even understand his motives.
Those two have had interesting relationships with the Scott family over the years, so they’re kind of birds of a feather, and without saying too much, this is why they can exist in each other’s worlds. They can be thick as thieves.”

DAN & JAMIE | “Jamie is growing up and becoming aware of the pedigree of the Scott family name and what that means. He’s becoming aware of who his father was and who his grandfather was. I love seeing ‘Grandpa Dan’ in a classic sense, though. He’s been a villain and has made bad choices, but never in regards to his grandson. He’s always putting Jamie first and teaching him grace, nobility and honor.”

MOUTH & MILLIE | “When one person in a relationship is making choices that the other doesn’t approve of, it really tests things — sometimes comedically, sometimes through frustration — and that’s their journey this year. Millie’s not going to shed many tears, but that doesn’t mean she won’t have a point of view and be involved in Mouth’s struggles. [Editor's Note: Schwahn revealed at last week's "Evening with One Tree Hill" event that Mouth will gain a significant amount of weight in Season 9, putting a strain on his relationship.]

CLAY & QUINN | “In the premiere we have a huge, angry argument between these two, so we know there are dark clouds ahead. Clay is just over being sick. He’s been poked and prodded, he’s been shot and had to do some rehab, and before that he was depressed over losing [his wife] Sara. He’s found his way through a lot of that, but [things like that] can effect your personal relationships. Clay’s going to make some mistakes, selfishly, and he’s going to have to pay for those.”

CHASE & ALEX | “Human beings just want what they want sometimes, even if they know they’re making mistakes, and I like that energy on the show. And that is what sort of infiltrates Chase and Alex’s relationship this season.”

Nathan Narrating. Dan’s Diner is burning down. In Flames. Dan and Chris Keller in car. Dan has gun and says leave killing to him. Chase is in back of police car. Clay is yelling at Quinn saying he doesnt need her help and tells her get out. Brooke is trashing a cafe. Haley is in a morgue. Looks to be going to identify a body. As the cover comes off she puts her head in hands. Julian is getting beat up.

Black Screen….

Brooke wakes up in bed to baby crying. Julian has the baby David. They are complaining about the babies sleeping schedule. As they get one calm and sleeping the other wakes up.
Haley is in bed and her phone rings. Nathan is calling her from the airport. He says he will be home soon. Clay will be going to Europe. They hang up and he promises to call her again soon.
Clay is asleep in a merry go round. It is going round and round.
Diner is still burning and Dan is still standing outside with an emotionless face.
Haley walks in to Karens with a confused look cause the door was open and yells out hello.
Clay is at the merry go round.
Quinn gets out of her car.
Alarm goes off. Chase and Alex are in bed together. Chase has to head to TRIC.
Julian is filling out paperwork.
Quinn is questioning Clay. She is worried about him. He says no doctors not yet.
Brooke comes in to Karen’s and whole restaurant say hello. Haley is headed to Red bedroom to meet who will be running it. As she leaves she says goodbye and whole restaurant says bye.
Julian enters his sound stage.
Haley enters Red Bedroom and Chris Keller turns around in chair.

Haley starts saying NO, NO, NO. She is adamant that Chris will not run red bedroom with a laugh. He had used a fake name to get into the place and she liked that guy aka Harry Johnson. She agrees for it to be temporary.
Chase gets a text from Alex a sexy picture text.
Brooke is waking up the babies. She doesn’t want them sleeping during the day. Her mom comes in to visit them. She compliments their outfits. She made their outfits and tells her mom she wants to start a new line called Baker man. Her mom puts it to the side and asks is she needs help with the christening. They agree to meet at the church and she tells her mom that she invited her dad.
Chris Keller is listening to a song by Alex. She walks in and says its crappy. He tries to pick her up while talking in 3rd person. She says she hates him.
Alex runs into Chase’s place mad and right into bathroom past Chase who is sitting on bed in his underwear.
Quinn is in bed. Clay says tonight he is tired. Quinn watches him and stays up. She watches a movie. Plays games on her tablet. She finally dozes.
Haley comes down her stairs. Her patio door is open. She checks on Jamie. Her phone rings and she jumps. Nathan is calling. He is calling from the airport. She says she sleeps better when he is there. He says he will be home soon. The couple days or sooner depending on flights. She is smiling. She loves him.

It’s nighttime and Brooke is riving the babies around. She is narrating. She is driving all the streets she has grown up on. She says this is what she has wished for as she crawls into bed. Almost as one baby cries. Julian jumps up to get him. She is happy with where she is at.
Quinn is awake in bed. Clay wakes up and says he is ok. HE says she cant stay up every night. He agrees to go see a doctor.
Clay is at doctor. He has left house 3 times while sleeping and that is it. Doc says she will run a few tests but she thinks it is probably a little stress and she will give him something to help him sleep. Quin has fallen asleep in the office.
Brooke and family is at Church. Haley is as well. Brookes dad is late. Haley is godmother and her dad is supposed to be god father. They get up to have the christening. Brooke begins to explain that her dad the other godparent is not present when the doors open in the back of the church and he walks in.

Brooke introduces Jude and Davis and Haley.
Alex is teasing Chase while in bed. Chase says that he likes waking up to her. As they begin making out She keeps getting side tracked by what Chris said to her. She jumps up out of bed and leaves.
Chris is in studio singing and Chase walks in and tells him to stop telling his girl friend she has a crappy song. His sex life was amazing until he showed up you peacock looking dork. Chris smiles and keep on singing/playing.
Austin is on phone getting some kind of bad news. Clay drives by with a sleeping quinn in the car.
Brookes dad tells Haley that Lydia is beautiful. Victoria walks up and Ted and her start insulting each other. Haley looks up and Dan walks in the church. Haley gives Lydia to Victoria and walks toward Dan. Victoria and Ted(Brooke’s Dad) continue insulting each other.
Haley wants to know what Dan wants. He tells her about the fire. He lost everything even his home. He doesn’t want money. He is asking for a place to stay for a couple days. He says he knows what he has done he just needs a little help.

Chris is in the studio listening to Alex’s song. Alex walks in and threw shoe at window. She starts going off. Chris hits the mute button. He starts playing the track he has updated. He said her song was good it just needed to be produced better.
Dan is looking at photographs. She has set up the guest room for him. Jamie see Dan and run and gives him a HUGE hug.
Quinn and Clay are in bed. He says he took his pills and he is ok. He loves her and it is his turn to watch her sleep.
Brooke and Julian are in bed. Julian says the movie that was going to rent stage fell through. As he goes to kiss her the baby starts to cry. She gets up.
Chris is in red bedroom and Haley walks in. She agrees to let him stay if he doesn’t screw up.
Alex gets in bed with Chase. Chase asks how it was with hi, (Chris). She says she doesn’t want to talk about it. She says the only thing better then waking up with him is ending the day with him.
Brooke is driving. Clay is sleep walking again. Julian goes to sound stage. Dan picks up Lydia out of her crib. As he turns around Nathan walks in the room. No expression on his face. Dan welcomes his son home.

We told you last week about the amazingness that was the One Tree Hill season premiere screening party, in which we hollered along with the fans when Stephen Colletti spent the majority of the episode in his skivvies.
We chatted with Colletti himself about his lack of wardrobe. (You’re welcome, America!) Plus, he dropped some scoop on the ninth and final season of OTH…
“I got a friendly little reminder I got from [executive producer] Mark Schwan on the way to the screening,” Collietti tells us. “I was actually asking him if he was going to wear his ‘Clean Teen’ shirt and if he could throw me one. And he gently reminded me that I am going to be in my tightie whities about two stories tall.”
Oh yes! Tonight Chase and Alex (Jana Kramer) spend the majority of their scenes half-naked in the boudoir, and Colletti tells us there were both pros and cons for him in these new scenes.

Ausiello: EP Mark Schwahn says that little Jamie will share some “nice” scenes with his Uncle Lucas when Chad Michael Murray returns for an episode. The boss also tells TVLine that while countless familiar faces will pop up in Tree Hill before the fat lady sings, Ashley Rickards and Bryan Greenberg are not among them. “We don’t see either of them [this season],” he says. “There are a lot of faces we’d like to see, having been on so long, but we do stand by the choices we made. I really enjoyed the season and I wanted to spend time with [those castmembers] who had been there and who had been as loyal as the fans had been to the show, in terms of the guests. We did want to acknowledge the past for the fans who have been there since Day 1.”

HollywoodLife.com took a trip to Tree Hill, and it sounds like the show’s ninth season might just be its craziest yet!
Well, kids, the day we’ve looked forward to — and also dreaded — is almost here. The final season of One Tree Hill premieres at 8 p.m. tomorrow (Jan. 11) on The CW, and I was fortunate enough to be on the show’s Wilmington, N.C., set to get the scoop straight from the stars! When Cathrine Jakobsen made the 24-hour trek from Norway to Wilmington to get a glimpse of the inner workings of “One Tree Hill,” she knew it would be a trip to remember. What she didn’t anticipate were the long-term friendships that would form while she was here.
“My visit was amazing. I made some great friends that I know I’ll always have with me,” said Jakobsen, 22, who lives in Oslo and has followed the show since its third season. “I still talk to them almost every day through Facebook.”
Jakobsen is one of thousands of members of the “One Tree Hill family,” a close-knit group of fans who connect daily through social networking sites, exchanging messages of love, support and friendship.
On Twitter, users end their messages with the hashtag “#OTHfamily” and consider themselves close friends, but most don’t live in the same cities and have never met in person.
They’re united solely by their love for “the little show that could,” which this year will end its nine-season run. Members of the fan family have pledged to weather the loss of the show by uniting in cyberspace to celebrate their ongoing friendship.
“I am so grateful (to) be a part of this family,” read one recent tweet. “These next few months are going to be hard, but so glad I have (you) all!”

“Jane By Design” co-star and former “One Tree Hill” actress India de Beaufort joined other actors and musicians Saturday night in Hollywood celebrating true beauty. She was among the special guests at the first anniversary party of Team True Beauty, a nonprofit promoting positive self-esteem and self-worth in men and women of all ages.

She played tough music executive Miranda Stone during “One Tree Hill’s” sixth season and just started a run as antagonistic fashion designer India Jourdain on the ABC Family series “Jane by Design.”

Before the Team True Beauty event, I spoke with her about the organization, her time in Wilmington filming “One Tree Hill,” and her new villainous turn on “Jane.”
What were your impressions of Wilmington during your nine months there filming “One Tree Hill”?

I have very fond memories. The ocean there is the warmest I’ve ever been in. The first time I ever went down to the beach I was fully clothed. And I stepped in and I just kept walking because I was so shocked about how nice it was. Kilwin’s — gotta love that. I went for the toffee flavored popcorn. That was my thing. I used to just sit in my hotel room (at the Hilton Wilmington Riverside) and down bags of it.

I know some of you have said that I’m all about Leyton, but that’s not true. In fact, season 6 was all about Brooke and Julian for me. They had the best scenes, the most chemistry and it was about damn time Brooke found someone that deserves her. Yes, Lucas and Peyton finally tied the knot, but it was Brulian who kept me watching week after week. Not to mention, Nathan finally f*cking made it to the NBA. A great season that we almost thought was our last. And sadly, it was the last for Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton.

I had a headache as I woke up Friday morning, a legitimate headache, from all the emotion that poured out Thursday night at “An Evening with One Tree Hill” in L.A. Yes, I’m a writer, but I was there as a fan of the show too — a show that has gotten a lot of criticism over the course of its 9-year run. And a show that will be missed dearly when it ends this Spring.

“We jumped the shark years ago,” creator Mark Schwahn admitted with a laugh. “For some people the show was a guilty pleasure. We were never a critical darling. After 187 episodes, whoever is still hating on the show is losing the battle.”

Granted critics were seemingly always harsh, OTH pulled in ratings year after year. And it’s built one of the most dedicated fan bases surrounding television today, one that shed tears with the cast and crew as we said goodbye to the series that night.

The night started off with a screening of the premiere (details here!) and ended with a Q&A with some of the cast. As they trickled into the ArcLight, fans began to scream and yell. “Joy, I love you!” “Sophia, you’re gorgeous!” “JAMIE!” (That’s not his real name, you guys). Me? I just sat in awe. I’ve met and talked to some of them before, but I couldn’t help but just… stare.

Over the summer, Zap2it was the first to tell you that Tyler Hilton was returning to "One Tree Hill" as the always controversial Chris Keller... and now we've got the first pic of a new, matured, more sophisticated Chris Keller in Season 9.

Okay, so we're lying about the maturity thing. Chris Keller returns in the season premiere in a flurry of juvenile jokes, and we promise, you'll feel like he never left. (And, more importantly, you'll wish he'd never left!)

First thing is first: Don't worry, Keller isn't in town to break up Haley and Nathan. We visited the Wilmington, NC set in September and got the scoop from Hilton himself. "When [news broke] that I was coming back, everybody was like 'So excited! So excited! If you break up Nathan and Haley I'm going to kill you,'" he jokes. "I was hoping for a nanny position in the family. I don't think they want me anywhere near that."

Keller is involved in Red Bedroom Records, so he's very Tric-adjacent, meaning he'll be hanging out with Chase (Stephen Colletti) a lot. "We just totally bromance out, which is hilarious. I think it's funny. I think Chris Keller needs friends and never has guy friends, and he just thinks Chase is the coolest," Hilton tells us.

Colletti rolls his eyes at that one. "Chris Keller would like to look at it as a bromance, but it's a little one-sided," he teases. "Chase can be reluctant to opening himself up to Chris Keller but he's getting to know him. They've spent some quality time together, Chase being at Tric and Chris being in the recording studio. They get really friendly with each other. This season their paths cross, almost a little too close for comfort."

Through hanging out with Chase, Keller starts to spend some time with Chuck, which explains this exclusive shot from Episode 2. They'll even duet! "I did a song with Michael May, who plays Chuck on the show. He's my partner in crime also, this season," Hilton says, revealing that May even joined him on stage at a few concerts outside of the show -- check out a video of the two on stage together below!

With all the bro-time, Keller has little time to mess things up for Haley and Nathan. "Amazingly, it doesn't revolve around chicks, much to my dismay, but it's also such an action-packed season -- I mean, there are a lot of girls around, but I don't really get punched or anything for hooking up with girls like I did before," Hilton says. When he read the first page of Season 9 -- which you can see in the teaser video here -- he was shocked. "I was like 'Holy s***. Where is this even going to go?' It's the weirdest stuff."

Though he's distracted from his usual womanizing, Keller is still Keller. "We record a lot at a strip club, which was hilarious, and I end up doing some interviews for some girls I want working for me," he says of Episode 3, which was one of his favorites -- particularly given that co-star Paul Johansson directed it. "Mark [Schwahn] creates Chris Keller, and I feel like Chris comes from some dark place in his mind, and Paul, I think, also has that alter ego inside of him. It's fun working with them, they add all this crazy s*** to the character."

We're hoping that Hilton and Bethany Joy Galeotti will join forces for another song before the end, but they both warn that Haley's storyline is so harrowing this season, she may not break for much singing. "I love working with her as a musician and she's really talented, but as I was reading the scripts, I was like eh, maybe she's not going to be singing," Hilton says. "I would think that everything's going to end on a good note in the last episode, so maybe."

"I just can't imagine within the context of the storyline right now, because Haley's story is so heavy, I just don't know that she'd find time to go sing," Galeotti adds. "However, Tyler and I may sing together at some point, for an event or something like that, but as far as on the show... maybe. Maybe in the café. Maybe Mark could write a thing where Chris is singing and he's really good and it like makes me feel better, so I jump on stage. I don't know."

Even without a duet, Galeotti says that she's thrilled to be working with Hilton again. "Tyler and I have this sort of Abbott and Costello thing going on where I'm the straight man and he's the funny man and it works out wonderfully," she says. "We have a lot of fun together. And I love the Haley and Keller dynamic; it's so funny. He's kind of her dips*** little brother. She tolerates him. I think she's annoyed that there's someone in her life that she had an indiscretion with in her marriage. I certainly wouldn't have that person in my life if that had been me, but Haley is much more mature than I am, apparently."

Of course, the big question for Season 9 is how everyone is going to end up by the time episode 13 rolls around. Hilton tells us that he hopes Keller settles down a little bit. "I think Chris has done a lot of work for everyone and taken a lot of s***. I think it'd be awesome if he found a girl this season who was a Chris Keller match, so he wouldn't be hitting on everyone else's girl. I think he deserves it."

Working on a TV series produced in Wilmington, “One Tree Hill” cast members have settled into routines and cultivated favorite places like any other Port City resident.

Local clothing stores, coffee Shops and restaurants are among the places the stars of the series have popped up over the years.

“I don’t know what I’m going to be without Tower 7,” Sophia Bush said.

Ditto for Austin Nichols, who is dating Bush in real life. He also frequents Flaming Amy’s, Brasserie du Soleil, Lovey’s and Tidal Creek.

Bush said she’ll miss the personal service from places such as Lighthouse Beer & Wine.

“They know to call me when they get certain obscure beers in,” she said. “I’ll miss things like that. It’s a very special town.”

Chad Michael Murray, back in town for one episode of season nine but a frequent visitor to the area with fiancee Kenzie Dalton, whose family lives here, had just one top pick for a favorite place: Flaming Amy’s.

Back in 2003, when “One Tree Hill” was just an idea, employees of Wilmington-based casting agency Fincannon & Associates had several roles they were trying to fill for a new series.

For these parts, the Fincannons looked at regional actors and decided on some from right here in the Port City.

“We read hundreds of people throughout the Southeast,” Lisa Mae Wells Fincannon said in a 2003 interview. “Really, the entire Eastern Seaboard.”

She’d said the producers were interested in making the show, set in a fictional North Carolina town called Tree Hill, as authentic as possible and were interested in local actors.

Nine years later, many faces you may see around town are a part of the legacy of “One Tree Hill.”

Cast and crew members of the locally filmed drama series “One Tree Hill” gathered with about 200 fans of the series to watch a special screening of the ninth (and final) season premiere Thursday, Jan. 5, at the ArcLight movie theater in Hollywood.
After the screening, the stars stuck around for a Q&A moderated by TVLine.com’s Meg Masters and to take questions from the audience. It was similar to an event held in October in Wilmington.

I was lucky enough to spend my night in L.A. at “An Evening with One Tree Hill” watching the season 9 premiere with some of the cast. As Bethany Joy Galeotti and Paul Johansson took their seats behind me, I tried to remain calm. I also tried not to stare at the beautifulness that is Sophia Bush all night, but no ones perfect. Confession: When Sophia Bush tweeted her final photo from the "One Tree Hill" set on the night that the series wrapped for good, we started crying. In public. It wasn't exactly our finest moment.

While the series may have ended for Sophia, though, we can look forward to 13 final episodes with Brooke Davis (and the rest of the gang, of course) before we officially say goodbye. We were lucky enough to visit Sophia and her co-stars in Wilmington back in September, when we sat down with Sophia and got the scoop on her last weeks with B. Davis.

When Season 9 begins, we meet Brooke in a very happy place as she and Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti) bring back a bit of nostaglia for themselves -- and the fans -- at Karen's Café. "It's great that she and Haley have come together to start this café. Joy and I were having so much fun that first episode," Sophia says, sitting with us in the "Naley" house living room set as thunder raged outside the studio. "We had this whole rhythm down -- how we would move, and where we could keep our aprons, and what we'd do to make it look like we'd done it a million times already. That's really great for [Brooke], and it's such a tie to the community and where she grew up. Brooke, more than anyone, has wanted nothing more than to be in her home. So I love her having that, and I love Brooke and Haley having that partnership, because they're such good friends."

If you're envisioning sunny café scenes that recall Season 1, you're not far off -- but things in Tree Hill never stay too simple for long. If you didn't already know, Brooke's father, played by Richard Burgi, is finally making an appearance this year after being MIA for way too long. She'll also revisit a terrifying face from her past when Xavier (Devin McGee), who assaulted her in Season 6 and later went to prison for killing Quentin, returns to Tree Hill. Through it all, though, Brooke's priority remains her new family, as we saw her and Julian (Austin Nichols) welcome twins Davis and Jude in the Season 8 finale.

"I do think it's nice now to see Brooke and Julian as a couple, dealing with the kids and dealing with life, and dealing with work," she says. "It's reality that when you have children, other things go by the wayside. You see that in season 9. Brooke starts working again and some of the work is doable, but some of the work needs to be shelved for a hot minute so she can deal with her kids. That's reality."

Sophia was the first actor approached by the studio about signing on for a possible Season 9. She was also the first actor to agree to return for a final 13 episodes, which she felt was ideal -- enough time to say a well-deserved goodbye to the character and the crew that she loves, but not so much time that she'd be held back later on. "The idea that we would do this as 13 final episode and almost shoot like it a miniseries really appealed to me," she says. "On a professional level, if we had shot 22 episodes, it would be one more year we'd be shooting through pilot season and unavailable for other things."

In the end, the actual story for the season was what convinced her step into Brooke's always-fabulous shoes once again. Though so much of the uber-dramatic season is under wraps right now, we can tell you that Brooke is tested in Season 9 like she's never been tested before -- and this is a woman who has had more than her fair share of troubles.

"There were some big issues -- one, in particular, that has to do with the kids -- that [executive producer Mark Schwahn] kind of pitched to me, and I thought, 'That's why I'm an actor, because people have things happen to them.' Sometimes it's just one little cog that gets off in the wheel and your life falls apart. That's what I like to do, and I'm not trying to be totally sadistic, but I enjoy that stuff."

She also relates to it. We can safely say that we've never interviewed an actor who connects as deeply with their character as Sophia does with Brooke, on many levels. "She is a person to me, after all these years," Sophia says. "I think about the things I go through in life, or that my girlfriends go through. No matter how together you are, no matter how professional you are, and no matter how many good things happen, we've all been through things that are almost unspeakable. All of us! I think it's important, especially for me, to have played someone who is flawed and who has been hurt and who has been betrayed even though she's a great person."

The considerable hurdles that Sophia has faced in her own life have enabled her to relate to the heightened, dramatic "reality" that Tree Hill presents. In this final season, she really had to dig deep into her own reserve of emotion to give Brooke her due as she experiences the highest of highs and, of course, the lowest of lows.

"I've been through things in life where people have asked, 'How do you move forward from that?' And the answer is always 'Because you do,'" Sophia says, animated, as if she's speaking to a generation, not a table full of cynical, under-caffeinated journalists. "Life matters, and passion matters, and being a good person matters, and your professionalism matters -- all of those things. I've been able to do that with Brooke, and it's very funny because I look at the timelines of her evolutions and my evolutions through my twenties being here. Sometimes Brooke was going through things before I knew I was, and sometimes Brooke was going through things after I had."

Heartache isn't the only thing that Sophia and Brooke have shared on occasion, of course -- Schwahn integrated Sophia's love for fashion into the character after seeing Sophia's painstaking involvement with Brooke's wardrobe.

When we asked Sophia -- who, of course, had not yet read the finale script -- about her last wishes for Brooke, that was a big factor. While she loves seeing Brooke at the café, she holds out hope for a return to the big dreams she's been cultivating since her Tree Hill High days.

"I really hope Brooke has, in some form, fashion back in her life. I don't know what that will be, maybe it's something small just in Tree Hill, or it could be something that would grow and be on a larger scale," she says. "I think it's great if being married and having a kid fulfill you, but my personal belief for anyone in life is that you need to be fulfilled as an individual before you can let anything else complete you. And if you are like Brooke, married with kids, those things should be bonuses in her life, because God forbid that can be taken away from you at any minute of any day. And then what are you left with? You have to be satisfied, especially as a woman, it's important to feel that you have charge of your own life. And I really want to make sure Brooke has that again so that she can have the total package. That's possible in the land of make believe."
