Known for her recurring role as Sam on the popular CW show “One Tree Hill,” and appearances on “Entourage” and “Zoey 101,” Ashley Rickards, 17, can definitely categorize herself as a well-rounded actress. And as she begins filming her new movie, “Dirty Girl,” she weighs in with Relate magazine, a teen digital publication, on living life as a teenage celebrity.
Rickards shares how she handles everything that comes along with being a teen in the spotlight and offers words of advice to fellow teens regarding peer pressure:
“I think you are a reflection of what you surround yourself with—if the people and things in your life aren’t positive then change that by volunteering, reading good books, saying “No” when you want to,” Rickards says.

He didn’t know what to expect going into this season.
Having lost two of their most valuable players in Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton at the end of last season, star James Lafferty didn’t know what to expect heading into ONE TREE HILL’s seventh season. More pressure? More work? All of the above? “Because we’re really an ensemble show, there hasn’t been a lot of added pressure, and really only a little more work,” explained Lafferty on a recent one-on-one with the TV Addict. “But we’ve worked really hard to make this season the best we possibly can and [the new cast additions of] Rob [Buckley] and Shantel [VanSanten] — who are so committed to creating the best possible characters they can — helped make things really easy on the rest of us.”
He’s firmly planted on Team ‘Naley.’
Although Lafferty wouldn’t spill on the veracity of the scandal that has rocked Tree Hill (Nathan may-or-may-not have cheated on Haley with a now three month pregnant Renee), Lafferty himself doesn’t believe the show would do anything to break up the show’s most beloved twosome, “The fans wouldn’t stand for it!” Adding, after we jokingly suggested that we’d love to see Nathan hook-up with Victoria, “Nathan’s been with everyone on the show, it’s not gonna happen!”
He does’t mind sharing the spotlight.
Particularly when the spotlight is being shone on his fictional TV son Jamie, ONE TREE HILL’s resident scene-stealer played by Jackson Brundage, “Jackson is a little genius and teaches me stuff,” said Lafferty. “Aside from being adorable, his presence has completely brightened up the set.”
Television stardom has its privileges.
Especially when one gets an all-expenses paid trip overseas to promote the show. Like say Lafferty’s recent jaunt across the pond to beautiful Paris. “Getting to go to Paris to promote ‘Les fréres Scott’ with [Creator] Mark Schwahn, getting to spend a few days along the French Riviera with my brother and some friends… well, we definitely would not have travelled like we did had it not been for ONE TREE HILL.”He isn’t going anywhere.
Although Lafferty has no idea how long exactly ONE TREE HILL will last, the actor did reveal that he’s signed on until next season and “for as many seasons as the CW will have me.”

Barbara Alyn Woods is a Desperate Houswife!
A few people spotted Barbara Alyn Woods (Nathan’s Mom, Deb) last night on the preview for next week’s Desperate Housewives. SpoilerTV has posted some previews (sans sound) where you catch a glimpse of her.
While doing a few searches I just happened to find an old interview with her saying “I would kill to even guest for a day on ‘Desperate Housewives.’”
I guess she got her wish! Congrats, Barbara!!

Chad & Hilarie? Out. Rob Buckley and Shantel Van Santen? In. "One Tree Hill" has gone through quite a big change this year, losing two of its key players, but replacing them with new talent right away. There's still a few old school Tree Hill inhabitants hanging out though...
Last week's episode ended with a bit of a surprise: Dan is somehow involved in Nathan's sex scandal accusations. Thoughts on that?
James Lafferty: I think it's been proven in the past that Dan is very meddlesome. And whether it's for malicious reasons or for heroic reasons, he always has his hands in something. He has his pulse on what's happening in Nathan's life. If it's positive or negative, I can't really give that away, but the audience should definitely look forward to Dan being a factor [in that storyline].
Do you think Dan's motives might be more pure in this case? Could he actually be trying to help his son?
JL: It's always possible. In the past, Dan has saved Nathan and he's absolutely been there for Nathan, whether or not Nathan wanted him to be. But Nathan has still shut Dan out. Even now, he doesn't consider Dan to be a part of his family and there's really nothing Dan can do to get back in. I think the audience has to consider that this could make Dan even more bitter than he once was.
And of course this is all going down because Nathan has a higher profile now, having finally realized his dream of playing in the NBA. After all these years portraying Nathan, how do you feel about this new stage of his life?
JL: It's really great. One of my favorite things about coming back for the seventh season is seeing what Nathan's life is like and what the Scott family's life is like after Nathan has been in the NBA. And that's why I love the storyline that we're doing now, with Renee accusing Nathan [of having an affair], because it actually threatens everything that Nathan has worked so hard for. And in the past, when Nathan is threatened by something, or when something is taken away from Nathan, he works really hard to get it back. And so what I see is an opportunity for Nathan to rise from the ashes out of a situation like this.
Haley has been standing by her man during the whole scandal. Do you like there to be a little drama and turmoil in their relationship?
JL: I like it. Because I think Nathan has to grow from this, and I think the family has to grow from this as well. Nathan and Haley have to learn how to deal with this as parents, but also as husband and wife. I think for them to even be able to talk to each other about it, it shows how much kindness and trust there is in the relationship.
Of course, one person who is missing in all this drama is Nathan's brother. Is it weird not having Chad Michael Murray (Lucas) and Hilarie Burton (Peyton) around this year? Or are things just business as usual?
JL: I'd say it's not weird, and it's not business as usual. Everybody's had a really positive attitude. And I think a big part of that is not looking back at what we've lost, but looking forward. It's completely futile to think about what we lost and why the show could possibly be weaker than it once was. All we've really been focused on is doing the best job we could possibly do, really bringing it, really being prepared and looking forward to making the best show we can possibly make now. I think it's really paid off because the viewership is still strong. I think the fans are really starting to commit to the new characters. And Rob [Buckley, Clay] and ShantelVanSanten, Quinn] are making it really easy on the rest of us by being so dedicated to their characters and being so willing and also capable of making the characters real and allowing the audience to care about them.
Their characters also inject new life into the show, which must be nice after all these years.
JL: Yeah. And there's a freshness to both Rob and Shantel that I think the fans are really going to love. They have a great energy, they're great actors and I think it does change the face of the show in a positive way.
JL: I think Nathan's main concern is that Clay's interests are going to turn away from Nathan's career. I think Nathan's really frightened right now by everything that could possibly be negative in his life. And what he needs is for his representative, Clay, to be there for him 100% and to do the best possible work he could be doing for Nathan's career. And I think Nathan sees not only Clay and Quinn as a threat to that, because he sees his agent being distracted, but also there is the factor that Quinn is Nathan's in-law and that means that Quinn's husband is also Nathan's friend. So that puts Nathan and Haley in a really difficult position.

Kenzie Dalton on Sophia Bush and Chad Michael Murray
“I had the television on The Bonnie Hunt Show as I was getting ready for work yesterday. She is my favorite talk show host. I hear a familiar raspy voice and come into the room to watch actress Sophia Bush do an interview. I can’t help but respect her for being a smart person, having self respect and doing good in the community. Every time we see each other we always have a enjoyable conversation. When I worked with her we had girl chats during our lunch breaks and ordered take out. I must say Sophia is a very down-to-earth person and fun to be around. She is a great example of how a woman should act in the public eye, more girls should look up to her as a role model. She will do well in her skills as a motivational speaker.”
Kenzie, who has an ad campaign coming out soon for the cosmetic company Wet n’ Wild, also took the time to update us on Chad, who recently left One Tree Hill.
She wrote, “Chad has not signed on to any movie project although he has been offered a few. Stay tuned for [a] secret project Chad is working on that should be finished by next year.”

More "Naley" Babies on Tree Hill? Star Says It's Not "Out of the Question"
TVGuide.com: What was your reaction when you first read the Nathan-Renee storyline?
James Lafferty: I was excited [because] it's rare nowadays that the Nathan and Haley relationship is threatened in any way. They used to have their ups and downs when they were in high school, married, and lately they've been a pretty rock-solid foundation. At no point did I actually think it would break them up, which would cause mutiny from the fans, so for me it was exciting because I knew it would be a great story to tell.
TVGuide.com: Will the truth be revealed soon?
Lafferty: Yeah, the audience can be looking for an answer pretty soon.
TVGuide.com: What did you think when you found out Rachel (Danneel Harris) would be back as Dan's wife?
Lafferty: I was a little shocked, as I'm sure the audience was — it seems a little out there. People think no one in Tree Hill can date outside the same pool of people, but it's actually amazing how well that relationship works and where they're going with it. What they actually do with that relationship is going to be something that the audience is really captivated by.
TVGuide.com: So is Dan really a changed man?
Lafferty: There's always going to be a little bit of a villain in Dan, but there's also going to be a bit of a hero. I've always seen Dan as more a confused heroic character than a straight villain... but in terms of the way my character deals with him, I don't think [he] will ever be anything more than a villain.
TVGuide.com: Were you nervous about continuing One Tree Hill without two of its original cast members [Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton] and do you like the new direction it's taken?
Lafferty: Initially, I think everybody was a little bit nervous. You never know how the audience is going to respond to something like that. All we can do is look forward and what we gained was two very committed cast members in Robert [Buckley] and Shantel [VanSanten]. They want to create these characters in the best possible way that they can, tell good stories — and it shows in their work.
TVGuide.com: What has been your favorite new change this season?
Lafferty: Coming back and seeing what the Scott family's life is like... how Nathan deals with being in the NBA, traveling all the time, and being a father. It was nice to see that when we came back from jumping ahead [14 months], even though he's been in the NBA, he has continued to grow as a father.
TVGuide.com: Any more Naley babies in the future?
Lafferty: I don't know actually, but I don't think it's ever out of the question. Nathan and Haley have their hands full with Jamie, but I think that would be an exciting thing for the fans to see.
TVGuide.com: If the show were to come to an end, what would you like to see for Nathan and Haley?
Lafferty: I would like to see the family together. For me personally, my character has been so connected and dedicated to the Scott family unit for all these years and I think that's where Nathan belongs, with his wife and with his son, and anywhere else would be a little bit of a letdown for the audience — probably a letdown for me personally as well.

‘Tree Hill’ Star: Nathan’s Looking Pretty Guilty!
I hate to break the news to you, but a chunk of the fans are beginning to think that maybe – just maybe – Nathan actually did sleep with Renee.
Is that right? I’m looking pretty guilty there, yeah. But that’s interesting. I hadn’t had any inclination so far of what the viewer response has been to this whole thing, so that’s cool.
How soon will we find out the truth, whatever it may be?
It’s going to be soon, within the next few weeks. So for the fans that are really looking for answers, they should definitely be tuning in.
On top of everything else, it’s looking like this sordid mess is starting to affect young Jamie.
That is one of the most compelling things about this storyline – how it’s affecting not just Nathan but the entire Scott family. When I first read this storyline, it wasn’t something that frightened me. I didn’t think it’d be character assassination or anything. No, I thought it was going to open a lot of doors for a good story to tell. The Scott family leads a pretty charmed existence, so I was interested to see if this would tear them apart… or bring them closer together.
Do you feel this is some of the most interesting material you and Bethany Joy Galeotti have been given to play?
Absolutely. For our characters, there has to be a level of kindness and trust that they operate from at all times for them to even talk about a situation like this. If Haley didn’t trust Nathan, and if Nathan didn’t feel like he could be trusted, there’s no way they could even be in the same room when allegations like this come out.
Last week’s closing scene between Dan and Renee hinted that Nathan’s father will get his hand in the mix somehow. Some fans think he might play the hero.
He may, he may…. But the fans have to remember that as much as Dan has played the hero in the past, every time he has done so Nathan has burned him as well. So Dan could be a little bitter at this point.
Was it strange going into this season minus fellow original cast members Chad Michael Murray (Lucas) and Hilarie Burton (Peyton)?
It was much different, obviously. The actors, crew and producers, we come to work and do our jobs no matter who is off screen. The show is bigger than that. But in terms of what the fans feel, that was the biggest wild card. Our viewership has been strong, though, and I think the fans are starting to commit to the new characters. That’s a huge testament to Rob [Buckley, who plays Clay] and Shantel [VanSanten, Quinn], who came into this extremely prepared and wanting to do the best possible job. From the beginning, they took a lot of responsibility for whether the show did well, and they’ve really performed so far.
‘Tree Hill’ tends to keep things interesting by dragging the occasional bad apple back to the canvas. Are there any upcoming returns you can tease?
The fans should look out for something from Nathan’s past maybe coming back. I know that’s extremely vague, but it should make for some cool and interesting drama.
