TV.com: Should Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton Return to One Tree Hill ?

E!’s Watch with Kristin blog reported late on Friday that the couple formerly known as Leyton will probably be returning to One Tree Hill before Season 8 is through. The original plan was to bring them back for Brooke’s (Sophia Bush) two-episode wedding (planned to air sometime during the first 13 episodes of the season), but now that The CW has ordered six additional scripts, Murray and Burton might return closer to the season (series?) finale. Show creator Mark Schwahn also told E! that bringing other characters back would not be out of the question, so Dear Mr. Schwahn, we’ll take more of Karen (Moira Kelly) and Jake (Bryan Greenberg), please!

On one hand, this news could not come at a better time for the show, which has been in a slump since Murray and Burton left at the end of Season 6. On the other hand, lots of former fans think One Tree Hill should have quit while it was ahead, and bringing Murray and Burton back might just seem desperate. It could also make for some on-set awkwardness—Murray didn’t exactly leave on great terms, and he’s Sophia Bush’s ex-husband.

I’d like to think that Murray and Burton would give One Tree Hill a much-needed revival, but at this point it might be too late to save the show from its long, painful death. What do you think?

People: True Blood’s Joe Manganiello Is Engaged

(Joe Manganiello: Former OTH’s Owen)

Sorry ladies, Joe Manganiello is off the market.

While on vacation in Italy the True Blood heartthrob, 33, popped the question to his girlfriend, actress/model Audra Marie, his rep tells PEOPLE.

Manganiello, who plays werewolf Alcide Herveaux on the HBO drama, and Marie met at a 2009 Super Bowl party, but it was anything but love at first sight.

8.05 Nobody Taught Us To Quit Ratings

---

On the CW, the Life Unexpected / One Tree Hill crossover provided no boost to Life Unexpected. It had a 1.4 ratings in the CW target women 18-34 demo which was the same as its FINAL rating last week, (its fast affiliate overnight results last week were a 1.6 rating for women 18-34). One Tree Hill’s 1.8 rating for women 18-34 was even with last week’s fast affiliate rating.

One Tree Hill and Life Unexpected Get All Smushy Tonight—and It's "Big"

Fun fact: Cate from Life Unexpected and Haley from One Tree Hill are totally sisters!

Sisters from another mister, anyway.

So says LUX boss Liz Tigelaar, who gave us the dish on tonight's much-hyped (for good reason) crossover between LUX and OTH.

See what the lovely Shiri Appleby has to say about the big event in the video above, then head inside for more scoop from Bethany Joy Galeotti and Liz...

Still curious about what to expect from tonight's LUX/OTH crossover? Basically, a few of your Tree Hill regulars are heading to Portland for a big ol' music festival put on my some of your LUX regulars—and we'll let Liz take it from there:

"[One Tree Hill boss] Mark Schwahn was so great about being accommodating," she gushed. "And it actually worked out perfectly in our story because Cate's struggling with stuff and it turns out that Cate and Haley have such a similar backstory that I can't even believe the CW picked up our show. (Laughs.) They both are dorky valedictorians who got knocked up by athletes in high school and both guys are named Nate or Nathan. In the crossover, Haley really informs and helps Cate's story."

And all the fun musical guests don't hurt things one bit. Says Liz: "When I walked on the set, I couldn't believe I wasn't at a real music festival. We ended up getting Rain Perry, who sings our theme song. And Ben Lee is doing three songs and the biggest thing ever is that Sarah McLachlan performs and it is epic. It felt so big!"

We've seen the ep and can tell you it is not to be missed. Plus, not to spoil anything too significant, but there is a knee-slapping Roswell reference by another former WB star, and it is to die for.

Tune in to the start of the CW smashup tonight on One Tree Hill at 8 p.m., then stick around for the grand finale at 9 p.m. on Life Unexpected.
