Robert Buckley Talks One Tree Hill & Playing a Cowboy on Legends of Hell's Gate

Robert Buckley says he played his dream role in the new film The Legends of Hell's Gate, based on the true story of three outlaws expeditions during the 1870's in Texas. Buckley plays one of the expedited soldiers, which he described to me during our recent interview as one of the greatest times he has ever had with a character. We chatted about his experience of working on the western film, as well as on another role Buckley says he has been having a fun time with, and perhaps his most famous role, that of his current one as sports agent Clay Evans on the CW's One Tree Hill. If you watch One Tree Hill you know Clay has definitely been on a journey of ups and downs this season. Buckley, who is always as down to earth as it gets, talked about the moments that stood out to him this year in 'Tree Hill', what's ahead for Clay and Quinn; and how he went from economics to Hollywood!


Since you just wrapped this season, what's been the most challenging part of it? And the most fun?

Robert- The earlier stuff, the heavier scenes that Shantel and I did when we were kind of going through the limbo stuff was pretty tough. It was such great material that the writers were giving us. I've never done anything that emotionally heavy so as an actor it was challenging to find stuff that you really want to do good by. You want to make it look as good as you know it is on the page. So that was tough. And luckily Shantel was just an awesome, awesome selfless scene partner. So I think that stuff turned out great which is a testament to the writing and to her as well. It was tough so I'm happy it turned out well. In fact Shantel and I and a few others just did the commentary on episode two, the one directed by Joe Davola. And we were watching that and I was thinking god I remember that episode, it was just like one heavy hitting scene after another. The one where Clay tells Quinn you have to open your eyes, you have to go back.
