On her blog, Galeotti writes about the girl she describes as a 'bright, funny, and beautiful young woman', who has become a good friend of hers' and who writes to her about the unsanitary water conditions in Kenya.
Galeotti has taken to her music to help make the water more pure for her friend and for Kenya. She has released a song called “Shiver'” in hopes of raising funds to improve the poor water situation in Kenya. Galeotti asked her fans to donate $1.99, the cost to purchase a song on iTunes, to one of three organizations working towards cleaner and healthier water in Kenya.
It was just announced this week that Galeotti has been nominated for two 2010 Teen Choice Awards. Safe to say who the teens in Kenya would vote as their choice favorite!

Bush, who shared her stories and photos from the Gulf Oil Disaster with Zap2it, is a dedicated environmentalist, or, as she says, a "greenie."
"I was really, really traumatized when I started seeing images coming from the Gulf and had a great hunch that we really weren't getting the information as to how bad the situation was," she told the KTLA news team. As Bush told us, she and her boyfriend and co-star Austin Nichols took a trip to Grand Isle with environmental group Global Green to see the damage.
She drops the shocking news that the hundreds of gallons of dispersant that is being put into the water to break up the oil is actually highly toxic. "It is not actually legal for use in Europe, but they're using it here."
Zap2it caught up with Sophia in the greenroom backstage before she went on camera, and she explained that while the fish and dolphins can recognize a giant oil slick enough to stay away from it, once the dispersant breaks up the oil particles, they swim right through it, essentially poisoning themselves.
After her trip, Bush is more sure than ever that the disaster is cause for extreme alarm. "This is a crisis," she tells us backstage. "Like, Ebola outbreak in Washington D.C., crisis."
Bush says that the situation is much worse than what we're seeing on television. "What nobody's showing you and what nobody wants the nation to know is that they're treating it practically like a police state. They won't admit that they have declared martial law, but that's what it feels like," she tells the news team. "We have no sort of public rights. They literally will not let you past a barrier on the beach, which they're calling 'the hot zone.'"
Check out the video below to learn how you can sign Global Green's petition for a greener future and to find out how to help reduce the nation's use of dirty energy with a few phone calls to your elected officials.

One Tree Hill stars (and real-life couple) Sophia Bush and Austin Nichols join Global Green USA on a tour of Grand Isle, Louisiana on Monday (June 21) to look at the impacts of oil spill.
The couple checked out the oil spill by boat at the Bridgeside Marina and then had lunch at the Barataria Restaurantbefore attempting to clean up one of the beaches. Later in the afternoon, they helped a group called the Bucket Brigade with some mapping of the spill.
The day after, they returned to New Orleans to meet with city officials and tour the Global Green Holy Cross Project in the Ninth Ward built according to top energy saving standards, and meet with Global Green staff and supporters for an assessment of actions and activities.

"One Tree Hill" star Sophia Bush is nominated for a 2010 Teen Choice Award for Choice TV Actress in the drama category. She's been nominated for six TCAs in the past, and this time, if she wins, it'll benefit victims of the Gulf Oil Disaster, which Sophia has been passionately speaking up about.
"It's been many years now since the last time I won a surfboard," she tells Zap2it. Not that many -- in 2007, Bush won for Choice Movie Actress: Comedy for "John Tucker Must Die", and for "The Hitcher" she took home both Choice Movie Actress: Horror/Thriller and Breakout Female Actress.
"There were three categories that I won in, so way to go, fans!" she says. "Back then I thought I'd really like to auction one off, but one surfboard with three plaques on it came to my house. I gave that surfboard to my mom, because, you know, my parents raised me and it's all because of them that I have the opportunity to do what I love. It was my first award ever, so that went to my mom."
If fans get her the win this year, Sophia won't be sending the surfboard to her parents. "When I found out I was nominated again this year, I said, 'Alright, that's it.' I don't need another one, and my parents certainly don't need another one, so if I win this surfboard, I'm going to sign it and I'm going to put it up on CharityBuzz, and I will auction it off for the victims of the oil spill."
She's not stopping there, either. "I want to raise as much money as possible. I'll get every single person that I've been working with on this to sign it. Austin [Nichols] and Ian [Somerhalder] and anyone else who cares to support it. Look, I don't care. I'll drag it over to Ryan Seacrest's office and shamelessly carry it around to get it signed. We'll auction it off to benefit Global Green because they're really the ones getting the money into the hands of the people who need it, and any other reputable organization that's using the money properly."
Global Green is a cause close to Sophia's heart. "I'm so in awe of what they're doing, not just in rescue efforts, but in ensuring that we have a greener future. It's not enough for it to be just the people who Priuses and talk about greening, it's everybody. Everybody needs to get on it."

While we’re all enjoying the fun and hype of the big premiere of Twilight Saga: Eclipse today, it’s important to stay aware of what’s still happening down on the Gulf Coast. We told you the other day that One Tree Hill hotties Sophia Bush and Austin Nichols were on a Twitter rampage to encourage their followers to donate to the oil spill effort (specifically, the Global Green).
Now the two are actually getting their hands dirty with an up-close and personal look at the situation in the Gulf:
The duo joined Global Green representative Matt for a tour of the water and the beaches in Louisiana that were affected by the disastrous BP oil spill. Despite being told by police that the clean-up process was too dangerous for them to lend a hand, Soph and Austin are actively trying to learn about the nature of the spill and what they can do to stop it. They surveyed the land and talked to locals, trying to understand as much as they could the reach of the damage.

CW stars Sophia Bush and Austin Nichols spent June 21and 22 in Grand Isle and New Orleans, La., viewing the impact of the BP oil spill on the Gulf coast, its wildlife and its people.
Here, they share their startling photos and stories with Zap2it in the hopes of raising awareness and encouraging activism.
"This isn't about celebrities putting their face on the cause," Bush says. "We need to get together as people, because the numbers matter. We all have to write our congress. We all have to write our Senate. We all have to petition our president. The more of us that get involved in this and the longer that we clamor and scream and stand up for our rights, the faster the change will happen."
