Examiner.com: ‘One Tree Hill’ may go off the air, but it won’t take Sophia Bush with it!

‘One Tree Hill’s’ future may be undecided, but that’s clearly not the case with Sophia Bush’s career. Bush has been keeping busy while waiting to hear the fate of the show that launched her career. She has recently been cast in…

Monday’s “One Tree Hill” ratings and Wilmington river court rally

Update: The rally at the river court on Saturday is now scheduled for noon. Details below.

It’s very possible that The CW is waiting to make a call about “One Tree Hill’s” future until it sees how the show fares in the next few weeks. Fans (and locals who want the show to return for more filming) anxiously awaited today’s ratings announcements to see how the show fared after its two-month hiatus. “One Tree Hill” is competing against “Life Unexpected” (though both shows could be picked up) and the network’s new pilots. Lots of factors are involved — buzz, budgets, creative confidence, and yes, ratings.

So, how did “One Tree Hill” do?

Well, not great. But not horrible. It certainly wasn’t the definitive ratings blowout fans were hoping for, but the ratings also weren’t at throw-in-the-towel levels either.

Good news: According to The CW, “One Tree Hill” returned with its best women 18-34 and women 18-49 ratings since January. That’s the CW’s core audience.

Bad news: “Gossip Girl” out-performed “One Tree Hill” by 14 percent in women 18-34, 7 percent in adults 18-34, 13 percent in women 18-49 and 10 percent in adults 18-49. Time was, not too long ago, that “OTH” was a better performer in most demos than “GG.” This just adds to the impression that “OTH” is an aging show, literally and figuratively.

Good news: “One Tree Hill” had more total viewers that “Gossip Girl.” “OTH” pulled in 2.06 million. “GG” only got 2.04 million. I know demos are important to the CW, but it’s hard to kill a show that is still outperforming your golden child.

Ultimately, I’m sticking with my original assessment that “OTH” will get picked up for at least a half season, likely as a midseason replacement. But we’ll see.

In the meantime, fans are sending basketballs to the network to support the show, and a local rally at the river court is planned for this weekend.

Danielle Carrier of Wilmington will host a “One Tree Hill” fan gathering at the river court next to the Battleship North Carolina at noon 2:30 p.m. this Saturday, May 1st.

“The river court is an iconic symbol of the television show ‘One Tree Hill,’ she wrote us. “Our intentions are to get a large crowd of fans there and take a group photo that we can send the the CW Network to show our support for “One Tree Hill” and an eighth season of this show. We want a season 8 and we understand the amount of tourism that is generated because of the show. By having an eighth season, which will most likely be the final season, many of the fans will want to come to Wilmington because they may not have a chance to do so in the future.”

So there you go. If you are in Wilmington this weekend, show up at the river court around 2 p.m. to show your support and be in place for a 2:30 photo.

TV.com: 10 Minutes with One Tree Hill ’s James Lafferty

Back in 2003, James Lafferty was just another fresh-faced 18-year-old and One Tree Hill was just another WB teen soap opera. But seven seasons later, both Lafferty and OTH are still on the air, having survived the move to The CW in 2006 and the show’s loss of stars Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton in 2009. Lafferty’s character, Nathan Scott, started out as the cocky star of Tree Hill High School’s basketball team; now he’s a husband, father, and professional NBA player. I spoke to Lafferty about Nathan’s growth, his own growth, and perhaps most importantly, his hair.

TV.com: When One Tree Hill began, you were a teenager. How do you think you’ve changed over the last seven years?

James Lafferty: That’s a big question. I mean, how does anybody change from the time that they’re 18 till they’re 25? Everything kind of changes. You see the world much differently, and you get your priorities in order a little bit more. I think it’s been great that the show has been a constant in my life since I was 18. I’ve been able to learn and grow with the show. It’s helped me define my work ethic and turned me from a boy into a man. You know what I mean? …And I’ve had opportunities to do things that I never thought I would do. I never thought I would direct television, and I’ve got a couple episodes under my belt now.

MTV: ‘One Tree Hill’ Star James Lafferty On Wrapping Season 7: ‘We Said Goodbye Possibly For Good’

A few weeks ago Stephen Colletti dished to MTV News about the Utah-set “One Tree Hill” season finale. Yesterday, star James Lafferty spilled some more details about the shoot to TVGuide.com in advance of the show’s return to The CW last night.

“Those snow days were so much fun,” he said. “It was literally like being a kid again. Working in that much snow all day, having that much fun, having such a blast building snow men and throwing snow balls around and having Jackson [Brundage] around —l his energy is so infectious you’re a kid right along with him. You wrap a day, take all your snow clothes off, put on your regular clothes, get in the van to go back to your hotel, and then it just hits you how exhausted you are.”

Chad Michael Murray has been working on a graphic novel called “Everlast,” which has been a six year long process and will be relase this summer.

Kenzie wrote earlier this week, “After reading it, I have to say that it really is an intriguing story that kept me caught up in the moment. I am incredibly proud of him and we both are pumped about it… Yes, there will be a tour. The book will be sold all over the U.S. as well as in France and Germany (and maybe other countries). I can’t wait for everyone to feast their eyes on the wonder that is Everlast.”

Miranda packs up and Grubbs comes in and proposes.

7.19 Every Picture Tells a Story Quotes

Quinn: Your love for her won’t diminish us.

Clay: So you don’t think I’m weird?

Quinn: All I know is that if I could see my mom, I would stay up all night talking to her.

Brooke: Mother, another button please? The slutty milf look is sooo not you!

Josh: Please do your job: keep my trailer stocked with red vines and lube!

Julian: Hey Christian Slater, calm down!

Jamie: I’m bored.

Nathan: You can’t be bored, you’re seven. You have any idea how fun being seven is? You know who’s babysitting you tonight?

Jamie: Please say Junk and Fergie!

Nathan: Nope, me!

Jamie: Is this how you got mom?

Nathan: It took a lot more than a close shave to get your mom.

Jamie: Really?

Nathan: When I met your mom I wasn’t the nicest guy in the world. I was selfish and fought a lot, but your mom made me better. Your mom made Uncle Lucas good too.

Jamie: It must’ve been so cool having a brother…it’s like having your best friend over at your house all the time!

Nathan: You gotta remember Uncle Lucas and I weren’t really close when we were your age, but yeah, having a brother is like having an automatic best friend.

Nathan: Can I ask you a favor? Even though she doesn’t show it all the time your mom is still very sad that your grandma died.

Jamie: Yeah.
Nathan: So I need you to keep an eye on her to make sure she’s not too sad…be the man of the house.

Jamie: Okay.

Marcio in Ipswich, Mass.: Could we get some news on One Tree Hill or Melrose Place? Will they both stick around?

Nope. I’m told Melrose Place is pretty much a goner. It would take a miracle for it to survive at this point. However, the jury’s still out on One Tree Hill. The ratings in the next few weeks do matter, and it returns with a new episode tonight. (Hint, hint.)

Jenelle from Conn.: Yay! One Tree Hill is back tonight! The death of Haley’s mom made for such a great episode! What happens after?

Well, when we talked to James Lafferty, he had this to say: “Haley has a long road ahead of her in dealing with her mother’s death, as anybody would. A big part of the Scott family life will be dealing with the grief. It’s definitely a growing experience for the family.” Another tease? Here’s the deal with Nathan for the rest of the season: “He’s finally got some time to spend with his family, and his family at this point in their lives really needs him,” James tells us. “He really gets the opportunity to be a father and a husband.” Model husband and father? Adorable.

EOnline: Bubble Talk With One Tree Hill’s Robert Buckley

Frantic fans have been known to do everything in their power to save their shows. Roswell watchers sent 3,000 bottles of Tabasco to the WB network execs. CBS programmers received 20 tons of peanuts from those desperate to save Jericho. And Chuck was kept on the air in part because of viewers purchasing foot-long sandwiches from product-placement sponsor Subway.

So what are One Tree Hill fans sending to the CW to save their show? Robert Buckley (Clay) tells us…

Basketballs!

“I didn’t know this, but apparently fans are sending in basketballs to the CW. That’s not easy to send a basketball!” laughs OTH new dude Buckley. “You have to make a big effort to send an object that awkward and big in the mail. I was really surprised, because that’s not a cheap or easy thing to do. But apparently they’re sending basketballs to the CW powers that be.”

'One Tree Hill': James Lafferty talks Nathan and Haley, Season 8 possibility

---

After a few months on hiatus, "One Tree Hill" returns this Monday (April 26) with the final four episodes of Season 7.

As of now, the series has not yet been renewed for an eighth year, so what happens in these next few hours should be interesting.

Korbi TV caught up with "OTH" star James Lafferty (Nathan Scott) to get a little scoop on what we can expect...

james-lafferty-one-tree-hill-320.jpg

Last we saw Nathan, his mother-in-law had just lost her battle with cancer. Will much of your upcoming storyline revolve around Nathan helping Haley and Jamie through that loss?
JL: It's actually Nathan and Jamie helping Haley through it. She's obviously the one that's hit the hardest by [her mother's death]. Her and [her sister] Quinn. So it's something that is going to pull the Scott family unit tighter.

Would you say that's a major theme throughout the end of this season?
JL: Yeah. Absolutely. There are definitely new developments that the viewers should be tuning in for, specifically in the finale episode. But as these next four air, we're going to see a lot of them dealing with the pain of Haley's mom passing away.

Because we don't know whether or not that finale will be the final episode of the series, there's a lot of talk about how the season will end. Will there be a cliffhanger as per usual?
JL: Um, I don't know. I think that the way the finale ends will depend on whether or not we get an eighth season pick up.

Ah, so you shot different endings.
JL: Yeah, I don't know, I may actually be crossing the line even saying that, but hopefully they'll give me a "Get Out Of Jail Free" card.

Yeah, you're probably okay as long as you don't spill the specifics of what was shot. Can you tell us, though, if the show does end here, are you happy with the way Nathan's storyline wraps up?
JL: Yeah, I mean, I guess. I think that we will always be able to end the show better if we know when the end is [coming]. I think that goes for any show. And I think the fans will be left wanting more if we don't get another season, absolutely.

But your characters do seem to be in a good place in terms of following the right future paths. The Scott family is on solid ground, Clay has come along and fits in well while making Quinn happy, Brooke and Julian seem to be a good match.
JL: Yeah, I think character-wise, we're all heading down the right roads. You know, if we were to get cut off now, I'm not saying there would be some sort of catastrophic fallout, because we left so many loose ends. But I think you can always [wrap the stories up] better if you know the end is coming ahead of time.

Well, say that the show did get another season, are you thinking about what you'd like to see happen? Maybe another baby for Nathan and Haley?
JL: I think I'd just like to see Nathan continue to be passionate about whatever he does, whether it's the NBA or another career path. I think it would be interesting to see him do something else. You know, we've known Nathan as a basketball player for so long, it would be cool to see how he did in the world without it and what his struggle would be if he tried to stray from that.

You're already sick of the NBA, huh? It only took like six seasons for him to get there...
JL: [Laughs] No, no, I'm not sick of it all. Listen, we can do the NBA again. That would be fantastic. It would just be an extension of a dream come true. But at the same time, if that doesn't work out, I'm also eager to explore other avenues.

What else could you see Nathan doing?
JL: I don't know. Let's see, he's worked at a garage, he's twisted pretzels. Yeah, I don't know. That's why it's so intriguing. Because the world is so wide open for him. Maybe he goes back to school. Maybe he cashes in on his resources with Clay and gets into the sports management world. Who knows? I think there are a lot of things that Nathan is capable of.

But, more than anything, I want Nathan to continue to be the rock that he is for his family. It's been so gratifying for me to play. It's the opposite of what I am. I'm this single kid, but my character is a family man. I learn a lot from it and I learn a lot from being around [Bethany] Joy [Galeotti] as an actor and from being around Jackson [Brundage] as a kid.

So you like smooth sailing for the Scott's. You like 'do the right thing' Nathan.
JL: For sure. I like earnest Nathan. Maybe that's corny, but I like it.

Anything else coming up for Nathan that you want to tell fans to watch out for?
JL: I think that the viewers are going to want to tune in for what's happening with all the characters. By the time the season ends, everyone has a decision to make and those decisions ultimately will define them, either for their lives, or for at least the next season [should] we get one.

Stephen Colletti talks life from Laguna Beach to 'Tree Hill'!

___

Stephen Colletti joined One Tree Hill in 2006 as Chase/CW TV

When Stephen Colletti first graced our television screens, he was introduced to us as simply 'Stephen Colletti', a regular 18-year-old Orange County boy living his life. Only Colletti had cameras documenting all that 'regular life', as he made his on-screen debut in the hit MTV reality show Laguna Beach. Colletti didn't remain as a reality TV star for long though. In 2006, he joined the cast of One Tree Hill as Chase Adams and has since remained a recurring character. Colletti recently discussed with me the transition of going from playing himself to playing a role on an established show and why his One Tree Hill experience has been something he'll never forget. He also shares fun stories from the special finale filmed in Utah, the new side of Chase viewers will soon see, and much more!

You just got back from filming in Park City, Utah? How was the Utah filming experience?

Stephen- It was fun. It kind of added a little extra juice extra buzz to everybody. The new environment, with the snow, in Park City and especially since it's the finale too, I mean it's great. For me I love Wilmington. I love going out there and especially cause I'm not there all the time it's always special for me of jump out of LA and work in Wilmington for a few weeks. But I know some of those kids out there they get a little island fever in Wilmington so I'm sure they were happy. But everyone was excited about it. The only downer is we couldn't bring all of our crew. We had to hire a certain amount of people in Utah so we couldn't bring everybody that works in Wilmington for the finale which was a bummer, but we got as many people out to Utah as we could and you know it's such a good crew, we had a blast. It was a lot of fun.

TVGuide: Will One Tree Hill’s Season Finale Feel Like the Series Ender?

Although viewers are still waiting to hear whether One Tree Hill will get another season, at least one wait is over: After a two-month hiatus, the CW series is back Monday at 8/7c for this season’s four final episodes. James Lafferty, who plays Nathan Scott, one of the only original characters left, tells TVGuide.com there are “really gratifying moments for those fans that have hung in there.” Read on to see what Lafferty has to say about the season’s last episodes, including some big decisions that will be made and where the series stands at the end of the season.

One Tree Hill - James Lafferty

TVGuide.com: Before the show’s hiatus, Haley’s mom died. Will she and Nathan still be dealing with the loss when it returns?

James Lafferty: Yes, absolutely. There’s definitely a grieving process. Not to make it sound like it’ll be all gloom, but that’s Haley’s journey … and she’s going to need help and that help is going to come from her family unit.

TDW Exclusive: James Lafferty on the Past, Present and Future of One Tree Hill

In 2003, television viewers met Nathan Scott, a cute but cocky, athletic but academically-challenged high school junior. In the nearly seven real-time years that have passed, we’ve slowly seen Nathan transform into a handsome but humble, career-minded but family-focused husband and father.

Who will Nathan be in another year? James Lafferty, who spoke with me earlier this week about the past, present and future of One Tree Hill, hopes we’ll be able to find out. But before we could get to that, Lafferty turned the tables on me. See for yourself…

James Lafferty: So you’re TeenDramaWhore.com.

StarNewsOnline: Waiting game begins for One Tree Hill’s VanSanten

One Tree Hill newcomer Shantel VanSanten has only worked on the show for a little less than a year (compared with seven years for some of her colleagues), she has already formed strong bonds with the series, her character, the area and her co-workers.

Most of the cast of “One Tree Hill” is used to waiting for The CW to announce whether or not their series will be picked up for another season. But for 24-year-old “Tree Hill” newcomer and former model Shantel VanSanten (“The Final Destination”), who signed on for this past season, the waiting game is a new feeling to deal with. And even though VanSanten has only worked on the show for a little less than a year (compared with seven years for some of her colleagues), she has already formed strong bonds with the series, her character, the area and her co-workers.

We called the actress at her home in Los Angeles, just before she was leaving to take another cast member, 9-year-old Jackson Brundage (Jamie Scott), to a screening of “How To Train Your Dragon.”

She talked about her time on set, how life brought her to Wilmington and what might be next on her list of life accomplishments.

Q: I talked to Robert Buckley (Clay) when he first came aboard “One Tree Hill” and he talked about what an easy transition he had adjusting to the cast and crew. Did you have a pretty easy transition period, too?

A: I did. I was so nervous when we first started. It’s pretty overwhelming to join a cast that has been doing it for six years previous to when you joined. And it wasn’t like we came on as guest stars … But my first day on set was the day we shot all of the cake fight stuff, and I got to put Jackson’s face in the cake and Joy and I got to smash cake in each other’s hair. So it was a really good ice breaker and fun first day to shoot. … And everybody was so welcoming. I think that shooting it in Wilmington helps that. Everybody’s so close, you know. Everybody does dinners together and sees each other.

Kidult: Shantel VanSanten Is Picture Perfect

Shantel VanSanten, who plays bohemian photog, Quinn James on the hit CW series, One Tree Hill, has something major in common with her character. “I’ve always wanted to be a photojournalist and travel as much as I could,” she says. “That’s just one of the similarities I see between Quinn and myself.” The bubbly actress—who you may remember from her role as Lori Milligan in the 2009 movie, Final Destination 3D (185.7 million worldwide)—talked to Kidult about her work on OTH, and dished about the final four episodes of the season.

Where were you raised?

I was born in Minnesota in a town that had like 1,000 people. I was raised there, and in Houston, Texas, which is a lot bigger. I had the best of both worlds.

Did you belong to any cliques in high school?

I went to an all-girls Catholic school, and we had a small class of 48 people—so we didn’t have cliques. It was cool going to a small school because I didn’t have the influence of boys or peer pressure. I was able to figure out what I loved doing without being super judged. I was president of the Glee club, and the Art club.

CosmoGIRL!: Shantel VanSanten from One Tree Hill Interview

Shantel VanSanten of One Tree Hill

After a mini break, One Tree Hill is back with four brand new episodes beginning this Monday, April 26th at 8 p.m. ET on the CW. We totally love Shantel VanSanten as Quinn James — sister to Hayley, fun-loving aunt to Jamie, and finally girlfriend to super sports agent Clay (played by the totally sexy Robert Buckley). So, we jumped on the chance to chat with Shantel all about her life on and off the One Tree Hill set!

CosmoGirl: When did you know you wanted to be an actress?

Shantal VanSanten: Despite my mother saying I have been destined to be an actress my whole life, I remember being the kid who grew up not knowing what I wanted to do with my life. I went from thinking I wanted to be a nun at one point, to going to college for journalism! I was involved in the arts and theater from early on, but it wasn’t until I took an acting class when I was 17 that I realized how passionate I felt about it. When I got the chance to start smaller acting jobs I realized this is what I wanted to do. I still have to pinch myself and be thankful that I get the chance to make a living doing what I love.

E! Online: Will One Tree Hill Survive? James Lafferty Weighs In

As our Save One Show results can attest, the fans still care about One Tree Hill. A lot. But with regulars being cast in new pilots, and no word yet from the CW about the 2010-11 season, One Tree Hill fans are a bit…concerned.

The good news? OTH returns this very Monday with new episodes, and there’s still time to prove this series is worth keeping around. (Psst: Tell any friends with Nielsen boxes to watch!)

We just got scoop from James Lafferty (Nathan) himself on where OTH season eight stands, what to expect for the rest of the current season, and why the season finale is taking place in (SPOILER ALERT)…

One Tree Hill: A Nate/Jamie Rock Band experience, plus James Lafferty spills!

One Tree Hill returns on Monday, and The CW sent out a little taste of what we can expect. Check it out:

Fun, right?

Even more fun: We got to talk with James Lafferty, who promised us that the final episodes of the season would give us plenty of reasons to tune in. Find out what James had to say about his favorite moments for Nathan, filming in Utah and making a movie with Robert Buckley after the jump!

James told us the Jamie/Nathan KISS fun was all part of his character "putting in the dad time that he wasn't able to able to put in while he was playing so much basketball." Until the end of the season, Nate "gets to be a father and a husband" -- a situation that James appreciates.

"The most gratifying part [I get to play] is Nathan being in those situations where he can be a father and husband because he's come so far. It's where he always wanted to be, so it's great to play him in that situation."

And Nathan's support as a husband and friend will be increasingly important as Haley and Quinn deal with the death of their mother, James says. Those sort of emotionally taxing scenes can be the most challenging and rewarding, he said.

Also rewarding: Hanging out with Jackson Brundage's character, Jamie, who is so much more than just a little kid. "Jamie has become sort of the giver of sage advice - it's like we lost Whitey and he's been reincarnated in this wise little boy."

Jamie's wise advise may be necessary if rumors of a Tree Hill pregnancy are true -- but James wouldn't tell us one way or the other. "It's always a possibility," he told us. "But I can't really say whether it will happen or not, or who it would be if it did happen."

So what can he tell us? "Fans can expect a lot of definite reasons to tune in," he told us. "People are making decisions all around. And they'll have reasons to tune in next year if we come back."

About that... James doesn't know about the show's fate any more than we do. "It changes every week -- you can speculate all you want, read the blogs, pay attention to the message boards, but it's so completely out of my hands that I just close myself off from it." If the show does come back, he said, it will be the fans that make it happen. "The fans are so vocal and active -- it's one of the reasons we love what we do."

JustJared: Jensen Ackles & Danneel Harris: ‘Back-Up Plan’ Pair

---

Jensen Ackles comes out to support his fiancee Danneel Harris at the premiere of her new movie, The Back-up Plan held at the Regency Village Theatre on Wednesday (April 21) in Westwood, Calif.

Danneel has talked about her character in the movie before: “I play the nemesis to [Jennifer Lopez]. The first day I met her, I had to call her like fat ’cause I play this really sweet hippie girl who used to date Alex O’Loughlin and now he’s seeing J.Lo’s character. I’m really sweet in front of him, but when I’m not in front of him, I’m evil. It’s a girl thing. But it was like, ‘Hi, Miss Lopez, superstar… I just called you fat’. But I get to have a lot of scenes with her, but it was really, really cool.”

CHAD MICHAEL MURRAY: NEW MOVIE AND A BOOK?

Chad Michael MurrayCHAD MICHAEL MURRAY: NEW MOVIE AND A BOOK?
He may not be on One Tree Hill anymore, but we know some of you still like to know what's going on with two of your favorite original cast members - Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton. We don't have much to tell you regarding Hilarie - other than the fact that Hil was spotted on the red carpet this week with Jeffrey Dean Morgan at the Hollywood premiere of The Losers and looked fantastic!

So, what can we tell you about Chad? According to IMDB, a new independent movie called Paradi$e is currently in-production and Chad is "rumored" to be playing the role of 18-year-old Brandon Anderson. Additional stars rumored to be involved with the project include Mike Vogel, Tommy Lee, Eric Balfour, Lauren Conrad, and former OTH season four guest-star Rick Fox.

Check out the posted plot summary: Paradi$e is a compelling, uplifting, contemporary drama that centers on a Hollywood family falling apart and mending itself back together. While the backdrop is decorated with all the accouterments of the lavish lifestyle, the story in due course debunks it all. We take a journey with the Anderson family-Brad (50) the talent manager father, Kristen (45) a devoted but naive wife, Tyler (18) a basketball sensation and Justin (16) a free spirited skateboard champ-and watch as they learn how all that really matters is having each other in a time where morals are evaporating, money is scarce and Dreams only come true for those who give a shit.

Sounds interesting...

In other news, Chad's long-time fiancee Kenzie Dalton recently said in her final blog entry that Chad is gearing up to release his first novel. If you remember, Chad talked a few times in the past about writing it and hoping to relase it.

Here's what Kenzie had to say: "Chad wanted me to let you know to look for his graphic novel titled Everlast dropping later this summer. It's been a six year process in the making and after reading it I have to say that it really is an intriguing story that kept me caught up in the moment. I am incredibly proud of him and we both are pumped about it."

Keep checking back for updates regarding Paradi$e, Everlast, and more from Chad.

Kenzie DaltonFYI: Kenzie, a former OTH Ravens cheerleader extra, booked a gig with Wet N Wild. If you happen to stop by a Walgreen's drug store or any local store that sells Wet N Wild products, she's on the posters.

You can also see some of the ads she's done with the brand - including a behind-the-scenes photo shoot video - at Wet N Wild's official website.
