Ology: ‘One Tree Hill’ Finale Countdown: Best Moments From Season 5

---

I know a lot of people aren’t too fond of One Tree Hill season 5, but I am. It’s the season of Lucas and Peyton. Well, the angsty, will-they-won’t-they Leyton that we all most of us love. And a lot goes down. Hell, Lucas almost marries that Lindsay chick, Nathan is in a wheelchair and Jamie goes missing by way of crazy Nanny Carrie.

Here we go, in no particular order, the most memorable moments from season 5… (warning: most of them are SAD)

Ology: ‘One Tree Hill’ Finale Countdown: Best Moments From Season 3

---

Even as a non-Brucas fan, I have to admit that season 3 is one of the best (if not the best season) of One Tree Hill. There are so many epic moments that I couldn’t leave any out, so this list is really long. I apologize. But then again, I don’t. Because I had such a fun time getting these clips together. A lot of ground was covered this year and it was the emotional roller-coaster we all secretly wanted. Join us and re-watch the series before the final season airs this January!

Of course! In fact, when we were on set for One Tree Hill's final season, Jackson Brundage, who plays Jamie, made many references to his character hanging out with Aunt Peyton. Aww…

THE INSIDER: We Interviewed Shantel VanSanten!

---

We just love to brag about our PP alums! Shantel VanSanten is one of our biggest stars to come out of Page Parkes. She got her start at our Commercial Model & Acting Camp and has since gone on to star in films (The Final Destination) and is currently starring on CW's hit show One Tree Hill.

She's also taking on some meaty fare - her next film out, Remembrance, makes it's New York premiere at the upcoming New York Jewish Film Festival.

We are so excited that we were able to catch up with her:

1) Final Destination, One Tree Hill... Remembrance? This seems like a push towards more serious dramatic roles for you. How did you snag the part?
I think my art imitates my life a little... Through experiences I find a lot of emotion in my “tool box” and I love bringing that to my characters. I like comedy but those films found me and the roles/ characters spoke to me. I have been so fortunate to be a part of each of them.

2) What was it like shooting in Berlin?
Berlin was my favorite city I have ever been to. I never wanted to leave... I took a week vacation before shooting to explore and be a tourist. It was an INCREDIBLE city and the history there fascinates me. I visited a concentration camp called Sachesenhausen, a few hours outside the city and that was a LIFE changing experience. One I shall NEVER forget. Shooting there was a blessing even if the sound stages had NO air conditioning and it was the middle of the summer :)

3) The Holocaust is heavy subject matter. Was this an emotional role for you to take?
I was always intrigued by WW2 and was so excited I got the role because I studied it in great depth in high school and college. It was a devestating period and I always wanted to gain more knowledge about it. It was very emotional for me talking to people who went through it or had family members who survived. Every story impacted and shaped my character and me.

4) What's next for you?
Next up is the start of season 9 of One Tree Hill and it is the finale season. I am so excited for everyone to see it because I think its the BEST season EVER! I currently done filming and moving back to LA to audition and find a role that inspires me and I am passionate about! I am excited about the prospect which lye ahead!

5) What do you miss about Texas?
I miss the FOOD in Texas. Every time I go home I have a plan for where I need to go eat while Im there. And I always miss my family and friends who are there! Best state ever!

Remembrance, starring Shantel, will screen in New York on January 16 and 17.

'One Tree Hill': Bethany Joy Galeotti finding post-series life 'such a change'

---

bethany-joy-galeotti-one-tree-hill-cw.jpgBethany Joy Galeotti confirms it's not easy to say goodbye to Wilmington, N.C., but the recent end of filming "One Tree Hill" there made it necessary.

The cast has scattered as the Wednesday, Jan. 11, premiere of the CW drama series' ninth and final season nears. It promises new dilemmas for Haley James Scott (Galeotti) and her husband Nathan (James Lafferty), thanks in no small part to his ever-scheming father Dan (Paul Johansson).

"I was less emotional than I thought I'd be on the last day," Galeotti tells Zap2it, "but I think it came out in other ways. I'd be at home doing my laundry and not be able to find something, and I'd burst into tears. It's hard to see photos from the set and think, 'I'm never going to be in a room with all the same people again.'

"I'm sure I'll go back to Wilmington," adds Galeotti, who also made her debut as a director during the show's run. "I'm sure I'll work with some of those guys again, but that particular combination doesn't exist anymore, and it's hard to think about that. After you spend nine years of your life seeing the same faces every day, it's such a change."

While she's settling into being more of a full-time wife and mother back home in Battle Ground, Wash. -- where she and husband Michael also own and operate a restaurant -- Galeotti intends to keep fulfilling the musical yen "One Tree Hill" helped satisfy by sending Haley on a concert tour.

With longtime friend Amber Sweeney, she still performs in the duo Everly, and she's looking forward to a July concert in Los Angeles where she expects to reunite with "One Tree Hill" co-stars Shawntel Van Santen and Daphne Zuniga. Galeotti adds that Jana Kramer, who also got to merge her acting and her music on the show, also may sing at the event.

"We've got another performance coming up for Nicholas Sparks' celebrity golf weekend in April in New Bern [N.C.]," Galeotti reports. "I think we're going to be more of a boutique type of band, not pursuing things full-steam-ahead, not going on tour and being rock stars. We both have our own things we want to keep on the front burner, but this is something we can do to still be able to enjoy doing music."

Had her life not taken the course it did, Galeotti may well have tried out for FOX's "American Idol," NBC's "The Voice" or another televised music competition. "I think they're fun,'" she reflects, "Usually if I watch 'American Idol,' I'll pick it up after the audition process. I feel like so much of it is the gimmick of watching a train wreck, and I think it breeds negativity and gossip. I don't like that.

"I think 'The Voice' is a great show," Galeotti notes. "I really enjoy that, and I also like 'The Sing-Off,' though I haven't seen too much of it. I would definitely encourage any young artist toward those, since everything's different now. You kind of have to take the opportunities that come to you, so I would say, why not?"

Jessi_RS: The OTH promo was light on Haley/NH. Any spoilers you can share about them?

We’re assuming the “n” in NH means Nathan “Perfect Biceps” Scott (James Lafferty), so here’s what we can tell you: Prepare yourselves for some tough times on the Nathan and Haley (Bethany Joy Galleotti) front in One Tree Hill’s final season. “She is finding out the depth of what she is capable of as woman, as a mother, as a wife,” Bethany tells us. “She’s being challenged in ways that you hope to God that no one will ever have to be challenged. [She's] finding out if she is going to come out on the other side as a warrior with scars or if the circumstance is going to swallow her whole.” Yikes!

Young Hollywood: Interview with Chad Michael Murray

---

---

USAToday: Murray ventures from Hollywood to ‘Everlast’

---

If there was any doubt, consider this: Sure, he’s on the DVDs for several seasons of the TV drama One Tree Hill and movies such as House of Wax, but Murray doesn’t have a strategy for checking those out in his local Best Buy. However, he does have one for discovering where his pre-apocalyptic Archaia graphic novel Everlast is located in bookstores.

“It’s something you kind of have to do. You’ve got to move it around, you’ve got to give it more exposure. Flip over the other books and put that on top,” Murray says, laughing.

In bookstores now, Everlast arrives in comic shops with its complex characters and big themes on Wednesday. Murray is also out on his book tour currently, with stops at San Francisco’s Comix Experience on Sunday, Portland’s Cosmic Monkey Comics on Tuesday and Seattle’s Local Color on Wednesday.

Created by Murray, the world of Everlast revolves around Derek Everlast, a man who’s tasked by a higher power to escort chosen people to an underground place called Haven before the End of Days. Some people are on “the list” to rebuild mankind following the oncoming event, some people aren’t — and trying to get into Haven without an invitation doesn’t work out too well for folks.

NextMovie: 5 Questions With Actor-Turned-Graphic Novelist Chad Michael Murray

---

We’ve seen actors branch out into all kinds of side careers, from rapping and banjoing to running an NFL franchise or a hamburger joint.

Chad Michael Murray – best known for making hearts throb on TV’s “One Tree Hill” and movies like “House of Wax” and “A Cinderella Story” – now adds “graphic novelist” to his resume’s job history with “Everlast,” a dark but spiritual tale about a hard-edged “soul-saver” in the days leading up to the apocalypse.

We geeked out with the amicable Buffalo, New York, native at October’s New York Comic-Con to cast the inevitable movie version.

So what inspired you to start writing graphic novels?

I can tell you that the story was inspired by a man who showed up on my doorstep, preaching about the end of the world, and he goes, “144,000 people are going to be let survive the End of Days. Do you want to be one of them?” And at that point I’m just like okay, I want to hear it. And it was really interesting. I heard this guy’s story and then I just kind of swallowed this idea and I went inside my house, and I just kind of contemplated it for a long time and thought, “What if it was true?”

Out of that I created Derek (Everlast), a soldier whose job it is to find people who are destined to survive the End of Days. And I just saw this as the greatest platform to launch it. It’s a really cool platform because you can do a little bit of everything with a little bit of ink. An incredible artist, obviously, can blow up your world for you, blow up a building instead of having to actually spend lots of production dollars, actually doing that, like some people.

Deadline: The CW Teams With J.J. Abrams & ‘OTH’ Creator Mark Schwahn For Hotel Drama – Deadline.com

---

J.J. Abrams is headed to the CW. In his first stint at the 5-year-old network, the top writer-producer-director has teamed up with Mark Schwahn, creator/executive producer/showrunner of the CW’s long-running drama One Tree Hill. The power pair has sold a hotel drama to the CW, which will instantly become one of the the network’s highest-profile projects this development season. Schwahn will write the show, tentatively titled Maine, which is set at an inn in Maine and revolves around the staff and the inn’s guests. Abrams and Schwahn will executive produce with Bryan Burk for Warner Bros. TV, Abrams’ studio-based Bad Robot and Schwahn’s Mastermind Laboratories. In scope, the character-based drama, which has received a script commitment, harks back to Schwahn’s OTH, which will end its nine-year run early next year, and Abrams’ Felicity. This also marks a homecoming of sorts for Abrams who started his TV career on the CW predecessor the WB with Felicity. For Schwahn, the project stems from a script deal with WBTV.

Trust us, we don’t like writing these types of articles. Especially when it has to do with One Tree Hill going off the air. We’re still not ready to admit this is the end, OK?!

But as you can tell from this OTH promo, a “favorite” will not survive the ninth and final season. Only thing left to do until the premiere (Jan. 11) is speculate on who’s biting the big one…

We’ve rounded up 10 likely suspects who could get killed off, eliminating Haley because as shown in the promo, she’s there to identify the body. We’ve also chosen not to include the kids because, c’mon, even Mark Schwahn isn’t that evil.

Ology: From Television To Telling Stories: Chad Michael Murray Tackles His First Graphic Novel

---

Chad Michael Murray is someone who has tackled the acting world pretty fiercely over the last 10 years. From starring on CW favorite One Tree Hill to landing leads in major films alongside actresses like Lindsay Lohan, Hilary Duff and Jamie Lee Curtis, Chad more or less has Hollywood firmly in his back pocket. So, like anyone would be, I was skeptical upon hearing that he had written a graphic novel — not a novel or memoir, mind you. It wouldn’t be much of a challenge for the 30-year-old seasoned actor to ghost-write a book like so many of his peers, trying to capitalize on their fame while they can. Chad chose a genre that is very much critical and protective of its own kind. A ballsy move. And he did it because he likes to write, which I can’t help but admire.

One of the many perks of my job is getting to meet and interview talented people and celebrities with whom in normal circumstances I’d never even breathe the same air. So when I heard that Chad was stopping in New York City for a signing, of course I had to be there. And walking into Barnes and Noble on the Upper East Side was like walking into a cooler, tamer version of a rock concert. The fans were just like any — passionate, kinda nuts and just wanted a glimpse at him — but more importantly, they were devoted and genuinely excited to crack open Everlast, his very first novel. “I though I’d show up here and we’d have 30 people outside. I really did,” Chad later tells me as I sit across from him and his gorgeous girlfriend Kenzie Dalton in a room no bigger than a utility closet.
