MTV: 5 Most Shocking ‘One Tree Hill’ Moments

---

Tonight we say goodbye to The CW dynasty known as “One Tree Hill.” With nine seasons to its name, the show wraps for good with a two-hour series finale at 8/7 C.
It’s been a long journey for Lucas and Nathan Scott, the two brothers from North Carolina. They started out as enemies and found a common bond through their love of Haley James (platonic for Lucas and true love for Nathan). They survived a school shooting, Coach Durham dropping them off in the middle of nowhere and more relationship troubles than we care to count.
They witnessed the rise and fall of their dreams as Lucas was left at the alter and Nathan was confined to a wheelchair in the middle of his NBA career. We laughed along to Nathan’s and Mouth McFadden’s strip tease at ladies’ night and cried with Brooke Davis when she found out she couldn’t have children.
But nothing prepared us for the moments on “One Tree Hill” that would leave us gasping in horror. As we say goodbye to the characters who’ve felt like our friends for years, we take a look back at the shocking moments that kept our wide eyes glued to the screen.

Ology: The Top 10 ‘One Tree Hill’ Episodes Of All Time

---

In between my sobbing about the looming end of One Tree Hill tonight, I’ve managed to compile what we think are the best ten episodes of the series. It was tough. The show has given us some of the most memorable moments on television over the past nine years. Between the deaths, the weddings, the babies and the triangle drama, there was just so much to choose from.
We know not every fan will agree with every pick (we did have to leave a lot off the list), but hopefully die-hard OTH lovers will appreciate the effort and take a look back with us. It’s the end, you guys. For real, this time.

BethanyJoy: Goodnight, Tree Hill

---

Well, tonight at 8pm One Tree Hill will air it’s final episode ever, after 9 seasons.  I couldn’t let today go by without paying homage to the show where I grew up, where I learned some of my most important life lessons, where I learned about being part of a team and being a professional, and where I fell in love with a little town and its beautiful people.
I remember my screen test for the character of “Reagan” (later to be changed to “Haley”).  During my test I was in a room full of executives while reading the scene with Chad Michael Murray and there were about 4 other girls going for the part, waiting in the hallway.  There was a moment about halfway through the reading when I was sitting next to Chad and I playfully knocked the side of his leg with mine.  I felt the energy of the whole room shift and I knew at that moment I had gotten the part.  As I walked out to my car, Chad chased me down on the WB parking lot and said “Bethany!”  I turned and he gave me a big hug, saying, “Congratulations.”  I smiled thinking that was very sweet of him but I’d been in this business long enough to know that nothing’s for sure until you see it on screen.  Sure enough, a few hours later I got a phone call that I had 7 days to pack up my life and move to Wilmington, North Carolina.

TVLine: One Tree Hill Boss Mark Schwahn Previews Series Finale

---

How does a show like The CW’s One Tree Hill — which over nine seasons has given us psycho stalkers, heart-eating dogs, coming-of-age teens (and then adults!), car crashes and more weddings, babies, deaths and hook-ups than we can possibly count — plan to wrap things up in tonight’s two-hour series finale event (airing at 8/7c)?
“Quietly,” shares showrunner Mark Schwahn.
It seems that after nearly a decade of jaw-dropping and always-emotional storytelling, Tree Hill‘s creator and his trusty team have taken the drama down a notch (or 10) for a series-ender that, if all goes as planned, will play as “a thank you note” to fans.
Here, Schwahn further discusses with TVLine his toned-down approach to the Tree Hill finale — which will pepper in nostalgia-filled interviews with the cast — as well as what to expect from the sweet swan song.

HollyWood Life: One Tree Hill Series Finale — Mark Schwahn On Dan Scott [INTERVIEW]

---

The mastermind behind ‘One Tree Hill’ weighs in on one of the series’ most debated story lines: Was Dan Scott officially redeemed?
Well, kids, the day we’ve all been dreading has finally arrived: One Tree Hill‘s two-hour series finale airs at 8 p.m. tonight on The CW. I recently spoke with creator Mark Schwahn about the show’s epic nine-year run, and as is often the case, the conversation quickly turned to its most polarizing character, Dan Scott (Paul Johansson). You’ll be very happy to know that, like the fans, Mark still has very conflicted thoughts about the late villain’s redemption — or lack thereof.
“I always say that when fans used to argue about the story lines, and when our writers room had differing opinions, the show was at its best,” Mark explained. “And that was one of them. We had long-winded discussions in the writers room about whether or not Dan Scott should be redeemed.”
As he who created Dan Scott, I asked Mark if he felt the redemption was earned.

E!: One Tree Hill Series Finale Preview: Time to Say Goodbye

---

One Tree Hill is ending tonight.
It was tough to type that sentence. But tonight, on the CW, we officially say goodbye to the gang on One Tree Hill after nine roller-coaster seasons. Want to prepare yourself for the two-hour sendoff? We’ve got all the previews and photos you need to celebrate One Tree Hill day! That’s right, we made it a national Internet holiday. You can’t stop us…
“The time that we spent together has meant so much,” Haley says in the promo for the series finale. That’s pretty much our sentiment for One Tree Hill. Tonight, everyone will gather for Tric’s tenth anniversary and Julian’s television show based on Tree Hill gets rolling. And, based on the video preview, Brooke will officially go home and become the girl behind the red door once again.

Geez, way to make us cry. Our hearts are fragile, ya know! As for scoop, all we really want to reveal is that there are plenty of Easter Eggs and callbacks for One Tree Hill fans that have been there since the beginning. Like, the very, very beginning. So make sure you DVR the episode so you can find them all! And then come back here after the series finale for some much needed OTH-withdrawal therapy!

Shantel VanSanten On One Tree Hill & How Empowering Others Changes The World! - National one tree hill | Examiner.com

---

What's a memory from working on the show that you'll always reflect back on?

Shantel- Theres a few of them. I would say the scene this year right before Clay walks into rehab. Quinn says “I love you.” And it was a cool moment because it's a special love to be unselfish and support someone unconditionally. I've grown to love Rob as one of my best friends and partner in crime. And those kinds of friendships are treasures! I knew that kind of friendship in Rob and it was neat to see it reflected in our characters. There are too many moments I've had with Joy [Bethany Joy Lenz] too! The moments when we get done with a scene and hug for a little while because to share your emotions and passion with people that you truly and whole-heartedly care about is a blessing. She has taught me so much about life and work and has grown to be my sister!

"One Tree Hill" cast, creators look back before the series finale | StarNewsOnline.com

VanSanten: Rob and I, because we started the show together, instantly had this bond. We formed such a great friendship. We both lived downtown. We would venture out, or we'd just go explore. We'd go to WalMart at midnight and go pick out 55 DVDs that were five dollars.

James Lafferty (Nathan Scott): When they sign you on, they say you're on for six seasons. That wasn't a problem for me. If they had said nine, it probably wouldn't have been either. When you have an opportunity to do something like that, to be part of something so big, you don't turn it down. I'm glad the show has lasted the way that it has.

Bethany Joy Lenz (Haley James Scott): I felt like I was joining something already in progress and trying to be, like, "Hey guys! I want to play, too!" Everyone was very welcoming, and everybody is so excited at the beginning of a show like that. You felt that camaraderie right away.

Schwahn: We were supposed to be a midseason show, so we start making the show at a lazy pace because we've got months. And then they call you up and go, "You're going on in the fall." It was like standing under an avalanche, but I don't know it's an avalanche. I just see pretty snow.

Tollin: The show was basically dead on arrival. The first week's ratings were so low that when we came in the next morning we assumed that the moving vans were going to be in to take the furniture. Instead, the head of the network, Jordan Levin, came into the editing room and said, "All right guys, let's roll up our sleeves. We've got to fix this thing."

Sophia Bush (Brooke Davis Baker): I actually was filming a different pilot with Tollin/Robbins when everybody was here filming this one. (Executive producer) Joe Davola (called and said,) "We filmed this TV show, and there's all these kids, and it's really depressing. We want to have one really funny person come in and stir the pot."

Davola: We could have had a 10th season if we wanted to. But it's better that we had a chance to end our story this year. I think everybody's going to be satisfied, including our fans.

Zap2it: ‘One Tree Hill’: Where’s Whitey? Mark Schwahn spills on Coach Durham’s life post-Ravens

---

“One Tree Hill” will bow out in a two-hour farewell event on Wednesday — at least, for the time being.  Several familiar faces, like Dan Scott (Paul Johansson) and Chris Keller (Tyler Hilton), returned for the final season. Even more old pals will be seen in Wednesday’s series finale. One person who we haven’t checked on for a while, though, is Coach Whitey Durham.
We caught up with executive producer Mark Schwahn for one last talk about the show, which, through nine seasons, has spanned over 15 years of its characters' lives. Of course, we had to ask him about our favorite crotchety old coach. Barry Corbin played the role to perfection in the first four seasons of the series — guiding the kids (and their parents) with an alternately gentle hand and iron fist.

StarNews: Mark Schwahn identifies the tree in “One Tree Hill”

---

The name of “One Tree Hill” doesn’t really have anything to do with trees or hills. The show is named after a U2 song and takes place in a town called Tree Hill.
But over the years, plenty of jokes have been made about the title of locally filmed drama “One Tree Hill.” Recently at a press event in Pasadena, Calif., a fellow reporter (jokingly, I think) asked series creator Mark Schwahn about  the location the titular tree in Wilmington.
“We couldn’t find a hill!” Schwahn quipped back. (It’s true. Wilmington is pretty flat. Beach towns are like that.)
