Wrightsville Beach said they couldn’t do it. The N.C. Department of Transportation said they could. But after a compromise was reached last week, two “One Tree Hill” actors finally got their chance to jump off a bridge.
One of the show’s new cast members, Robert Buckley, held hands with actress Amanda Schull and pretended to jump a couple of times while yelling, “We’ll be there in a minute.”
Another man jumped first, several times, landing in the slick-calm water of Banks Channel.
Rescue divers, jet skis, small boats, the U.S. Coast Guard and area law enforcement were all on hand to make sure everything went smoothly. In all, the cast and crew working on this scene for episode seven of season seven exceeded 100.
Finally, at 9:25 a.m., the actual actors jumped feet-first into the water below, still holding hands. Another long-time cast member, James Lafferty, directed the scene, which wrapped just in time. About three minutes after the jump, a heavy rain shower drenched the area.
