Video: “One Tree Hill” films scene off Banks Channel bridge

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, N.C. — Cameras filmed Monday as a cast member of the show “One Tree Hill” jumped from a Wrightsville Beach bridge into Banks Channel.

The town and Department of Transportation closed off the eastbound lanes of the Causeway Drive bridge for the shoot. That didn’t keep the curious from stopping by to get a peek at the action.

“Well, I think it’s kind of neat,” said Wilmington resident, Ricky Leonard. “It’s good to see different film productions all over Wilmington. We think it’s great for the economy, good to see something going on here and we have a beautiful city, it should be on film.”

Jumping off a DOT-operated bridge is against state law. But officials granted the show permission in this case.

Rescue boats, professional divers and Coast Guard members helped monitor safety during filming.

The scene will eventually air in an upcoming episode.
