'One Tree Hill' Pays Special Tribute to John Hughes & The 80's!

In a special tribute to John Hughes, One Tree Hill threw it back to the 80's Monday night by referencing the late director's films within story lines for each character.

From Sixteen Candles and Pretty in Pink, to Home Alone and Ferris Bueller's Day off, you saw it all decked out throughout the hour with little scenarios and big outfits. From the hair, to the dresses and over-pumped shoulder jackets, the 80's were definitely vibrant again on One Tree Hill.

The episode centered around an 80's-themed fund-raiser dance thrown in Tree Hill High by Haley and Quinn which took those in attendance back to high school and everything that revolves around it for a night.

Among the Hughes tributes, Haley's birthday was forgotten by those around her a la Sixteen Candles. The one person who remembered, was stranded after a road trip home took a wrong turn as Nathan and Clay spent the night finding multiple and strange ways to reach Tree Hill.

At the dance, it was high school all over again. From the geek and head cheer-leader in opposite ends of the room, to the infamous high-school love triangles and two girls fighting over the love of one man story, to the ending having that very cheer-leader and geek share a short but sweet kiss to close the night(though Julian doesn't look like any geek I ever knew!).

Jamie had himself a nice little Home Alone-esque evening at home all masterminded by his own little genius of a mind. A mind that seemed to outdo those of two grown men who experienced a humorous attack by the 7-year-old(or however old he may be considering the random birthday's he has!).

The one thing that is certain though is One Tree Hill succeeded in paying tribute to Hughes with its collision of his films with their plot lines along with some of their very own kick-backs to the high school years of the series. The stories continued to develop, intrigue, and entertain us along with special performances by the band Cheap Trick.

May be to safe to say the late John Hughes would be pleased indeed with the episode dedicated to his life and achievements.

What did you think of The One Tree Hill John Hughes tribute?
